Default For_Tomorrow's Music Journal

Hello, this is For_Tomorrow here. I am trying to this music journal out. I hope people find new bands here and learn more about why they appreciate music so much here. In each section, I will do:

Artist Spotlight: Where I will introduce a band maybe some people haven't heard of before. And they will be 5 songs they can listen to.

Albums reviews: I will do some album reviews for albums that have heavily stood out to me and why to this day they still ring true for me.

Did you know?: Where I will do music trivia. Ex: How did The Who come up with their name? How did Joy Division increase their legacy over time?

I hope everyone feels welcomed here and your love for music increases greatly.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: THE VEILS

The Veils are a London-based indie rock/folk outfit. Lead by Finn Andrews who also happens to be the son of XTC’s keyboardist Barry Andrews. But their music pales little in comparison to XTC. Finn spent his late teens listening to Patti Smith and Boy Dylan. His voice resemblances the falsetto of Jeff Buckley, the moodiness of Nick Cave, and echoes a slight raspiness of Tom Waits. Finn also is an exceptional lyricist. An overriding theme in the lyrics is the struggle with faith and not taking a blind leap of faith without concrete evidence for beliefs. But the lyrics also vary to the romantic to angst-ridden observations. The Veils has gone through many incarnations but the current line-up includes: Sophia Burn (Bass), Dan Raishbrook (Guitar), Raife Burchell (Drums). So The Veils are perfect for people looking for musical and lyrical diversity.

Did you know:

The Veils have recorded in Flaming Lips’ recording studio in Oklahoma City
Finn guest starred on some of Brian Eno’s albums
