Knower - Hanging On (2016) [Hypogenic Electro-Pop]

An anthem for 2020 fosho.

Moonbound - Cheetah Conquers The Moon (Pt. 1) (2015) [Art Rock]

I don't know a lot about these Italian bois other than the fact the lead singer sounds like early 80's Peter Gabriel fronting Discipline-era King Crimson, Chapman stick and all. Nice stuff!

Valeriy Stepanov Fusion Project - Air (2018) [Jazz-Fusion]

Russian fusion with a smooth but modern edge. I love the atmospheric nature of his keyboard playing, and the chord progressions are fantastic in general.

Stylus - Hangin' (1978) [R&B]

One of those late 70's Quiet Storm gems that somehow got lost in the galactic shuffle. It has been sampled a few times in hip-hop, though it isn't that well known to crate diggers. Must be because they're Australian or somethin'.

Arthur Russell - This Is How We Walk On The Moon (1982) [Avant-Pop]

Gorgeous song from one of the strangest but most compelling artists of the last few decades. The percussion makes the spice here.

Larry Heard - Crystal Fantasy (1995) [Instrumental]

If this was playing during my next ride up the elevator I dunno if I'd want to get off for awhile. Larry is a wizard at those keys and this particular tune is extremely chill.

Jess Harnell - Walk In The Shadows (Queensryche Cover) (1998) [Metal]

Around the time this guy was doing the voiceover work for Wakko Warner in Animaniacs he was doing a pretty damn good Geoff Tate impression on this Japanese only bonus track of his one and only solo album. Crayzeeeee.

The Crusaders - Some People Just Never Learn (1988) [Bossa Nova]

Sung by the legendary Ivan Lins, who gives the track an unusual depth and poignancy despite the clinical production of the era. I love hearing that uneasy balance between the uber-produced synthetica that dominated music from 1985 onward and the wonderful imperfection that is a human voice...especially in a time before autotune was ever a thing.

Cornelius - Point Of View Point (2001) [Shibuya-kei / Avant-Pop]

Skittering drum & bass energy exacerbates a beautiful progression in this juicy cut from Keigo Oyamada's excellent album Point. Hard to believe it has been nearly 20 years since this came out - still sounds fresh AF.

Motörhead - Capricorn (1979) [Space Rawk]

Some people hate Motorhead when they slow down and go all galactic. I, on the other hand, find it rather endearing. And Lemmy never did it better than on seminal classic Overkill.
