Jon & Vangelis - Horizon (1983) [Electronic / Ambient / Synth-Pop]

The crowning opus of these two's numerous collaborations. It's a gorgeous 22-minute odyssey that merges the grandeur of mid 70's Yes with Vangelis's knack for crafting spacefaring synthphonia of the highest order.

That got me curious and so I looked up the first single Jon Anderson recorded and found this. The interracial flirtations depicted in the video are really progressive for 1964. Not saying it’s great musically but it’s definitely interesting

This is either a double A-Side or a B-Side, I’m not sure.

1964 : "You Came Along" / "Don't Make Me Blue" (7", Single)

^ That's a cool find OH, I actually had no idea.

Sunset Mission - Writer's Block (2019) [Indie Math Pop-Rock]

Don't know anything about these guys other than they're all in their early 20's and study at Berklee. Their sound is warm, catchy and full of clever little touches, so I think they'll go pretty far if they can continue growing. They're too technical for the mainstream, but I love what they're doing.

America - Coastline (1980) [Yacht Rock]

I could live in the walls of a prison
Where the warm summer winds would never blow
Then again, think of what I'd be missing (as to the other side)
And how some do it-
I'll never know
I'll never know...

Makoto Matsushita - The Pressures And The Pleasures (1982) [Avant-garde J-Pop]

The bass running through this 10-minute city pop masterpiece is just beyond fantastic. The vocals are an acquired taste, but the song is so good that it doesn't matter.

John Martyn - Cooltide (1991) [Art Rock]

That time John Martyn got into trip-hop and Frippian guitar textures along with a healthy dose of xylophone and free jazz sax honkin'. '91 must have been a fun year.

Christaal - Mystic Traveler (1987) [Folk / Ambient / New Age]

Some of the most gorgeous music ever...even if the guy behind it, Apollo, is a freaky half-Cherokee self proclaimed psychic. Crazy or not, he's got an ear for this stuff. The atmosphere conjured is not too far removed from the best soundtrack work in games like the Elder Scrolls series or something out of a dark fantasy. Basically, top-tier New Age with lots of flute and orchestral beauty to spare.

Lula Cortes & Ze Ramalho - Omm (1975) [Brazilian Psychedelic Folk Jazz-Samba]

Legendary song from a legendary album lost in the mid 70's, incorporating proggy psychedelic folk and free jazz spiritual drones into a cohesive, distinctly South American identity.

Dancing Fantasy - Streethoppin' (1991) [Smooth Jazz]

Tfw you've crashed so many times in PilotWings 64 that you give up on life, discard your human shell completely and transcend into a new kind of lifeform that consists of pure Fiji water and Evangelion memes.

Mercury Rev - Dream Of A Young Girl As A Flower (2008) [Neo-Psychedelia]

Latter era Mercury Rev has a trove of orchestral pop gems that cross a variety of soundscapes and ideas, and this song is one of my favorites in that litter. For fans of The Flaming Lips.
