Oh Stephen! You and your clever album titles, 69 Love Songs for 69 songs of love and Distortion! Clever again, someones been listening to Jesus and Mary Chain I see. It works very well here, even though reading through various reviews I see many people disagree. I think it adds this sense of muffled division to the music that gives it an entirely new level of beauty that would have been otherwise unobtainable if the songs had been perfectly clean. This is a great pop album, not original and not as good as my favorite 69 Love Songs but very good nonetheless.

I'm listening to it now, I'll throw my measly 2 cents in later.
Though so far I'm quite enjoying it....
is it the asian guy who has the operatic voice?

Okay, I never voted on this

I really loved it, I'll Dream Alone, Too Drunk Too Dream, and Old Fools are my favorite
Not as good as 69 was at all
But The magnetic Fields are like basically my favorite
So they get a Very Good

The Christmas ballads like old fools wreck this for me.

Hell f'uckin' straight. But it goes beyond that - rigorous repeated listens reveal that the vast majority of tracks on this album are just not strong. Not by the standards of what this guy is capable of, anyway. Doubtless he's got a few more top notch albums left in him. This one wasn't one of them.

Mm, I rather liked that song
It had a strange sort of charm to it
