AwwSugar have you listened to Dookie? It's most people's including mine favorite Green Day album, so if you haven't heard it you should check it out and see if you like it.

Poor. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. I didn't like American idiot, and although I had a vague hope that they'd go back to the days of Dookie, I never really imagined that they would. Dissapointing.

No, he's saying that he had fleeting hope that this album would be a return to form, but really he knew that it wasn't going to be. That's why he said he wasn't expecting much.
