Same. I don't know anything about the artist and can't recall any of her tracks, except Paper Planes (thanks to Hermione's post). I have this horrible tendency to assume an artist is going to be bad without even listening to them, not sure why but M.I.A. fell into that hole. I thought I'd open the avenue and give this album a listen.

Well... I am an idiot. This is a whole lot better than what I expected. It's unpredictable, switching back and forward with different tunes. The tribal, garage, ambient elements, and hindu cultural sound is met with boisterous and capricious beats. Then you got the whole Arabian sound in Bad Girls, and the reggae tunes. The auto tune doesn't sound horrible. She definitely has an edge and this pushes the gates through the music wall. The variety in this album is pungent.

Gotta agree with Janszoon though, the cover is horrid.

I know what's up with that?

Did you guys have your heads buried in the sand? You couldn't escape that song. Being in trailers and commercials all over the place.

I remember when Galang came out. Didn't like it at all & thought she was gonna be some no mark who you don't hear of again . Paper Planes was v. different to the stuff I'd heard before.

Will download this off the back of reviews and posts itt.

Thanks.

Personally, I hardly access music through main channels of media. My cave rules me.
