Mika

okay so i dunno if this is pop but apparently the internet thinks so
what do you think of him?
i just got instantly obsessed with the song "grace kelly"

here's the myspace link http://www.myspace.com/mikamyspace
what do you think?

sleepy jack 02-02-2007 01:41 PM

He sounds like Freddy Mercury.

Wentzforthwithhaste 02-06-2007 04:34 AM

I Saw him at Popstarz which is a club in London and Like Freddy Mercury he's a real showman!

DontRunMeOver 02-06-2007 04:41 AM

The chorus for "Grace Kelly", when he goes up into falsetto, is great... and ****ing funny. The rest of the song... not so exciting.

Wentzforthwithhaste 02-06-2007 05:23 AM

I think tho Mika is just one of these Fad things... It's now fashion to be *** and well mika's just a by product of this fashion! Oh well... i s'pose we'll see how long it lasts!

blackTshirt 02-06-2007 07:57 AM

i dunno how long it'll last but he's sexy as hell :)

Wentzforthwithhaste 02-06-2007 08:02 AM

a little skinny but i know what you mean

Wentzforthwithhaste 02-07-2007 03:58 AM

Hmmm his Album didn't get a very good review http://www.thelondonpaper.com/cs/Satellite/london/music/article/1157144978275?packedargs=suffix%3DSubSectionArticl e

"like Alvin And The Chipmunks, Anthea Turner and Aqua dancing on your hungover head while H from Steps pries open your eyelids with foam prawns"

blackTshirt 02-07-2007 09:09 AM

good thing i don't care about reviews :)

Muzzy 02-07-2007 10:38 AM

im not a fan of him, maybe because its never of the radio but to be honest i never saw the big deal about the song in the first place

You listen to what's on the radio :yikes: they never play anything good, surf the web it's way better.

Muzzy 02-07-2007 05:14 PM

in some cases (car, work) the radio is sadly all thats on offer and that song is on major rotation.....it could be because it is number 1 in the uk STILL

Wentzforthwithhaste 02-12-2007 06:36 AM

i guess this is why people don't listern to reviews.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/albums.shtml

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml

Number one both single and album chart.

Loser 02-12-2007 03:03 PM

It's because of 10 year old emo wannabe's listen to them because they think they are hardcore.

blackTshirt 02-14-2007 06:13 AM

^if you're talkin about mika you should know he's only one guy and not at all for "hardcore" kids, i think your comment's off the subject, no need to be "sarcastic" or whatever that was

adidasss 02-22-2007 04:38 PM

Mika - Life in cartoon motion

Very happy, very gay, very awesome, similar to the Scissor sisters I'd say. Check it bitches.

Video for the very awesome "Grace Kelly"
Mika - Love today (it's not a video, just the song)

adidasss 02-22-2007 09:04 PM

Album!!!

Upped by me on a super slow connection, so if you guys don't download it and love it I'm totally boycotting this forum!![empty threat]

blackTshirt 02-23-2007 02:48 AM

adidasss 02-23-2007 05:50 AM

It's now fashionable to be gay? Yay!!!

Wait, is he really gay? Does that mean I still have a shot?!

Raine 02-27-2007 06:52 PM

I've heard of this guy. I think he appeared on MTV once or twice.

cardboard adolescent 02-27-2007 09:55 PM

Irresistably catchy.

_Spinning_ 03-19-2007 09:07 PM

God damnit.

I just downloaded the album, and as much as I hate to admit it.
I like it, a lot.

He reminds me of a young George Michael.

Levithan 03-20-2007 07:11 AM

My band played on the same stage as him...like two days after...Well it's my claim to fame...

The Dave 03-20-2007 07:15 AM

Is it just me, but does anyone else think that he is a complete copy of the lead singer of Taking Back Sunday? They look and sound the exact same and the stuff the writes could just as easily have been written by TBS.

Then again, I've only heard that one song that gets played on MTV.

strikey 03-31-2007 07:22 PM

Oh my.

He really, REALLY irritates me but actually when he performed on Jules Holland he was FANTASTIC. Dunno what happened.

Heliacal 04-06-2007 10:16 AM

Lollipop is sooo funny and cute :D
I also love 'Happy ending'

mookey 04-13-2007 11:44 AM

Anyone agree Grace Kelly is the most annoying pop song ever made?

I switch stations whenever it comes on the radio.

Mouseketeer 04-22-2007 10:46 AM

I think what he's released so far is, as said before 'irresistably catchy'. I really like Love Today.

Mouseketeer 04-22-2007 10:52 AM

And boo hoo, why's the upload still not available for the album?

heart 04-26-2007 09:50 PM

I bought his album yesterday and it just makes you feel happy but there is a deeper aspect that I think it takes buying the album to properly explore. His songs are very addicting and fresh and I enjoy listening to him a lot.

Apparently your to' co' fo' taste as well. There isn't a way that this isn't pop in my mind. It sounds like you're getting hugged too tightly by warm fuzzy rainbows and when you finally explode, bluebirds and doe-eyed puppies come roaring out of you.

I really do enjoy the song, but there are flairs of idol-esque pomposity and I wonder if the album is going to fall into passionless milismas (sp?)

bubbleboi 04-30-2007 08:28 PM

yeah sounds like freddy. not into it though

Mystr55 06-21-2007 09:37 PM

it is a happy album, indeed. I loved "grace kelly" but i'm not sure how i felt about the rest. it's surely unique but maybe a bit ahead of its time? i'm not sure. i'm still adjusting to him.

Zo Zo 06-24-2007 03:00 PM

I've not got his album but both his songs took a while to grow on me. He's got a great voice though and I do like the songs a lot.

Divide and Fall Apart 06-24-2007 03:08 PM

I just got back from holiday with a mate who wanted to play this album 24/7.....so now I absolutely cant stand it.

It is happy, just waaaay too happy for me. :banghead:

Agreed.

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 06:33 PM

I hope Mika's going to stick around. He's got a lot of potential. I can't think of any other album I own that's quite so upbeat. His voice is wonderful and I could listen to it for hours and hours and hours.

I thought Lollipop was irritating when I first listened but it's my 3rd favourite track now. :p:
