I have no problem with you thinking it's bad. I think the Beach Boys are bad, you think King Crimson is bad, but you don't deny they're great either. That's the point I was trying to make.

He refined and developed Spector's Wall of Sound. He created a bunch of new sound blends and if you listen closely musically, its very complex and arranged well. The complex vocal harmonies and alot of the things he introduced with Pet Sounds changed pop music forever. I shouldn't have said new, I should have said creative or something.

See heres where you mess up. I don't think King Crimson is bad. I just don't like them.

I don't like the Beach Boys and think they're bad. Pet Sounds a little less so than the others.

I'm looking for specifics. Refining something that already existed isn't a new technique. I don't think you should use something so arbitrary as an example. And sure it may be complex, lot's of things are complex...it doesn't really mean anything unless you're specific...just saying.

Let's figure out what the Beach Boys actually did that was innovative...I'm going to look it up and I'll get back to you guys... I'd encourage everyone else to do the same. I just think that our arguments might be a little better and more substatiated if we all did a little research.

You're a Nirvana fan. What could you possibly have against the Clash?

ProggyMan 09-12-2007 09:14 PM

I hate most of Nirvana's work. In Utero is very good though. I had to find out if you were without directly asking. That would be very rude.

It would be rude to ask if I'm a Clash fan?

Kidding, I love the Clash. Your username makes it pretty obvious. I think.
