Finally got a chance to listen to Surf's Up today. What a wonderful little album. Granted, a couple of bad moments (Take A Load Off Your Feet...what?), but some incredibly beautiful stuff too (the title track especially).

The title track was from the aborted Smile project (which may yet be released officially) which followed Pet Sounds. One of my favourite other tracks is 'A day in the life of a tree'.

I know, and I can't wait for the Smile release thats coming this summer. Smile is one of those ultimate what-could-have-been's for me, which makes listening to stuff like Surfs Up and Heroes and Villains somewhat frustrating, just wondering at the possibilities. But, what we have is still great, and the official Surf's Up is really fantastic (unlike, say, the official Wonderful).

Oh I think that fits as a interesting cleverly written song about a subject that most song writers would have nervous breakdowns about. I thought the non fit was the Student Demonstration song. It just doesn't flow with the rest of the songs on the album in my opinion...............

Let Him Run Wild is the best song ever.

Have you heard the version on Brian's Imagination album? It sounds quite different because of the lead vocal.

Is that the one where he got rid of the "Let him run!" line? If so, don't like that one as much.

No, it's pretty much the same except for some tweaks to the instrumentation, and of course, the lead vocal isn't in falsetto. Also a slight difference in the way the "guess you know I waited for you girl" hook is sung.

Hmm I'll have to check it out.
