Frankly, I'll state this. As a songwriter, lyrically, Gaga and Kurt Cobain are extremely similar. Fragmented ideas, words obviously assembled together for their value sonically over actual discernible meaning. Darkness, blasphemy, ambiguity. Offensive, violent, 'rebellious' concepts. Loud choruses dispersed between softer verses, switched back, and forth like an on off switch(Smells like Teen Spirit, Bad Romance).

Why?

Rock is pop. If you don't believe me, go listen to some Sergei Rachmaninov, and tell me that Kurt Cobain, and rock n' roll, is the deepest most intricate music that's infinitely evolved beyond Gaga.

Besides, by labelling Gaga as 'weird', or being offended by her you're basically giving her what she wants. Free advertisement to those who want to have the illusion that pop is now somehow rebellious, and therefore 'cool'. Which is the entire thing which sells Gaga's operation. It has little to do with musical distinction, or originality. Because, with just a little insight, and research, you'll find out she has very very little.

I'd also like to add on that note, big hand to Gaga for 'throwing away the gimmicks'. I find it amazingly depressing that she basically had her music challenged, promised the world that she'd make an album that was 'about the music' then turned around, and continued to churn out the same silly shock value in order to sell music for a career that is obviously experiencing relatively no melodic progression.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God
