Quite honestly, I feel like bringing out my old Duran Duran and giving it a listen again. As a side bit of trivia, John Taylor is a nudist and I remember he stated that he did not enjoy wearing clothes in public or private, preferring nudism . Guess they could have raised the ticket prices if he had just ditched them during the shows

Another good band for this category would be Icicle Works.

The Icicle works were a band I was listening a lot to for a while, especially for the first two albums which still remain among my favorites of the 80's.

Anyone here a fan of new wave music? This genre just keeps growing on me. I was listening to "My Sharona" today, which is one of my favorite songs, when I realized I know nothing about the band that made it. So I looked up the song to learn more and was surprised to find out that the Los Angeles group The Knack was considered New Wave, according to Wikipedia. I also realized I don't think I know any of their other songs, but now I'm curious if I'll like any as much as...

Here's a couple from their third album, the one that sadly went quickly up then down on the charts within a couple of months. Actually, I like it more than the first two despite a couple of skip tracks. Bought this (Along with The Ramones' Subterranean Jungle) on a Florida vacation in '83 when everyone damn near forgot about it, then parted with it after a while. Got it used for a dollar...and I wonder if it was my copy from way back when.

I hadn't heard "Boys Go Crazy" and "Another Lousy Day" before. (Until today I didn't even realize there *was* a third album by The Knack!) Very peppy music. That *would* be wild and funny if you actually bought back your own old casette, Screen.

I'd say in these two songs their strength is their instrumentation and not the lyrics, although they are both nice songs. The documentary about The Knack said how frustrating it was for them when people would always say, "When are you going to play another song like 'My Sharona?'" because they knew they could never top that. Ah well, that's the downside of fame. It always ends sometime!

It must have been doubling frustrating know that they just didn't have "the knack" for it. :P
