I'm a huge fan of Depeche Mode, so I suppose I'd nominate them.

But given their evolution over the years, they can't be pigeonholed as synthpop.

I love Depeche Mode, in my opinion the best synth pop band ever!

I really love The Human League - Don't you want me. Can't get enough of that song, it's just too catchy!

Cyndi Lauper and John Maus, though the latter is the contemporary of the genre/subgenre.
