They pretty much neutered that song. I wasn't a big fan of the original song to begin with so that was painful.

The song is not that bad actually once you turn the volume down to zero.

Again, you compare her to people who she has nothing in common with. Jedward have done what exactly? They may be mocked by the public as well, but the massive difference here is that they are happy for the fame, and they chase it. They encourage people to mock them because they crave the attention.

Susan Boyle is a completely different story as well, she is an underdog that people really got behind. A story of triumph for the everyday people in a world obsessed with celebrity and image, and here is a frumpy woman who shocks the world by showing that talent is not always packaged in a pretty 20 something with a size zero body.

Neither are anything like Rebecca Black.

There is so much wrong with pop music these days, terrible lyrics, clichéd videos, autotune everywhere etc, that her song is basically a perfect parody of the current pop music scene. But because she wasnt parodying it, she has been placed by millions of elitist snobs worldwide as the face that represents the death of music (the same snobs who have been sending her death threats). She hasnt chosen to be that face, she didnt market herself as a pop sensation, she merely made a song and video that was put on youtube (by her parents and ARK Music Factory) which took off because of how bad the song and singing was.

That is why her life is ruined (for the immediate future at least, in a few years her profile should decrease I'd imagine and she can go back to some semblance of normality), and no amount of money will make up for losing your childhood, just ask Michael Jackson.
She has still got a lot of attention and isn't the saying all publicity is good even if it is negative. Jedward, Susan Boyle, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, anyone famous there who has been through a hard time in the past, Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd even. Part of being in the public eye is attracting criticism and it is how you deal with it. I think you are overreacting with the death threats and everyone hating her. Life ruined? Jeez. She is young and has the rest of her life ahead of her. Most of that post is bull ****!

If your whole reputation as a music is based upon having the most criticized song on all time that is not good publicity. Any musician doesn't want to be known for making crappy music. This is different than say a gangsta rapper being caught for gun possession since that brings more credibility to his hardcore lyrics.

Also her life will be a bit harder for at least the next 6 months. She can't get into music because people aren't going to take her seriously after Friday.

Finally we are not overreacting to everyone hating on her. No one likes this song and even Rebecca herself admits to receiving death threats. Even the news reporters that cover the god damn song are taking subtle shots at it while they are covering the story. I have never heard anyone on the internet, television, or on the street say with a straight face that Rebecca Black is a decent artist.

I like how you continually put her in comparison with people who have been on tv talent shows, people who know the popularity these shows have and the attention they will recieve afterwards. You are comparing her continually to fame whores and saying she should deal with it like they have, when they want the attention, they crave the attention, its nothing like the same thing!!

Do you know how the ARK Music Factory works? They advertise specifically for talented girls aged 13-17 who have no material of their own. For a high price to the parents they will write a song, record (and autotune) your daughter singing it, and produce a video for it. It will then be put on Youtube for you and your daughter to show off to friends and family. They dont actually care about the singers, they are a business and looking to take advantage of parents with a love of seeing their child happy and a fat chequebook.

As much as she may have wanted to be a pop star, she would never have known that the amount of attention she has recieved would be like it has been. But people are past the point of commenting on how bad the song is, they are commenting on her as a person. People like me who defend Rebecca Black, would never sit here and tell you that she has made a perfect pop song. But I will sure as hell defend her as a person, because as bad as the song is she is just a 13 year old girl.

If you want to compare her to anyone, you should compare her to someone who has a similar story to their fame like the Star Wars Kid. He also had a video put on youtube, that became an internet meme with millions of people worldwide mocking him. He has had years of psychiactric help for the trauma the experience of being the butt of everyone's jokes has caused him. There's no such thing as bad publicity though, isnt that right?

I'm not saying the exact same will happen to Rebecca Black, but it is clearly a possibility that you should not dismiss so easily.

As for me overreacting to the death threats, how am I supposed to react? Are you seriously condoning the actions of anonymous people sending death threats to a 13 year old girl? Seriously?

Of course they have good and bad but I like this one.

Wayfarer decided to choose a bad one to show you.
