Lana Del Rey

I don't like this lady too much but this vido is provocative and weird

Asap rocky plays JFK

what do you guys think of it?

Paedantic Basterd 06-27-2012 04:50 PM

She sounds like she sings with duckface.

Sparky 06-27-2012 04:53 PM

thats cuz she does

its her best characteristic for better or wose =/

Goofle 06-27-2012 07:57 PM

I don't really care for her music, but this remix is awesome.

Anybody here able to make remixes? If so, please make a mashup of this song and The xx's Intro. It would be hella good.

I actually really like the song and love the video. And, no, the duckface is most definitely not her best characteristic.

We will have to agree to disagree on that.

slightlyburnt1 07-05-2012 10:19 AM

hot

shallowpanda 07-07-2012 10:33 AM

i like her quite a bit. she's got something unique going for her and she is very pretty tbf.

Duraddict 07-07-2012 11:13 AM

Born to Die is one of the best records of 2012.

JosephMillerMusic 07-07-2012 04:37 PM

i think her story is really inspiring. her albums a grower. i love her interviews.

James 07-07-2012 05:32 PM

I really like Lana Del Rey. She has a great, distinctive voice and her songs are insanely catchy. One of my favourite mainstream artists for sure.

Plus, she's hot.

Goofle 07-07-2012 05:40 PM

I'm not joking, somebody please make the remix i requested.

joy_circumcision 07-26-2012 11:42 AM

Dunno why, but Born to Die, despite its obvious status as politically and socially vapid and potentially regressive, is a really fun slab of pop. I didn't think it was so out of line when FACT compared it to 2012's version of MBDTF.

Halen 07-26-2012 11:46 AM

It's Lana del Rey

Great album, she's gonna re-release it with a few unreleased tracks in november.

I hate mixes with xx's, "Intro". Only mix I could stand with Intro was with Mobb Deep's, "Shook Ones Pt. II".

LDR sounded real good on Smiler's, "Big Spender", even though she was adlibs. lol

Although production on Born to Die was beast! Diet Mountain Dew should be mixed....

Goofle 07-27-2012 06:05 AM

I'm just saying those two would undoubtedly work.

Limetless 07-27-2012 12:53 PM

apparently lesbians love her.

Goofle 07-27-2012 10:38 PM

Oh yeah buddy. But I really wanna see that mashup. Please make it.

rockfan1 08-22-2012 03:36 AM

i MUCH prefer her recorded stuff to her live. She doesn't seem to enjoy performing (or perhaps it's the type of songs that is holding her back). It'd be interesting to hear something more up-beat perhaps?

Rocket 08-22-2012 03:48 AM

she sounds like napoleon dynamites brother

She hates performing live. She's said she has terrible stage fright. I've noticed she tends to mess up lyrics a lot. :( Poor thing.

Howard the Duck 09-03-2012 09:05 PM

just got her album

enjoyable

I just can't stand her lyrics. They are some of the most cliché lines I've ever heard.
But the music is wonderful.

jent 11-16-2012 04:07 PM

Lana Del Rey is having an awesome 2012. I've been seeing her everywhere. Her music is really good, in my opinion. I don't think her lyrics are that bad. Paradise is an album with great lyricism. Her image is perfect for the sound and even if it's staged, it's pretty hot!

Rapture Rider 11-19-2012 03:53 AM

I can't get enough of Off to the Races.

gossipgirl 11-21-2012 05:08 AM

Blue Velvet by Lana del Rey

I love her but her concert in London is already sold out. Her version of is amazing

Marcel 12-12-2012 05:25 PM

Not a big fan. Yesterday the cashier at Rasputin Music gave me a free 7" single though. A-side: "Ride"
B-side: A never before heard remix of one of her songs.

Will bust out the record player and see if these two songs are any good or not.

misspoptart 12-26-2012 07:50 AM

my issue with lana has nothing to do with her music: wtf plastic surgery! it's weird. seeing her before and after pics changed my ability to listen to her songs in an unbiased way.

that said, I love "blue jeans." the intro on that track is absolutely lovely.

Thinkofthechildren 03-07-2013 10:35 AM

She has no substance.

Anyway, I don't care about that, I like her music.

I was talking about her music.

misspoptart 03-12-2013 05:15 AM

could a mod please change the title of this thread to "Lana del Rey"? :)

Thanks!

She looks way better than she did before though.

Is her first album any good? Should I get it? Her persona is fascinating to me, she's like a character from a novel.

Crikey it's a Tumor sighting!

I picked up a cheap used copy of her Born To Die album, the double disc Paradise Edition. As far as mainstream FM radio pop goes, it's okay. I have to admit the music is sometimes infectious and her vocals more bearable than not. The lyrics aren't the best but I've heard much worse in mainstream pop. Still, you might want to hear online samples before investing.

Alice in Chains 04-11-2013 06:05 PM

I was 100% sure I'd already posted on this but because I didn't, here I am.

I love Lana. I'm not obsessed with her and if I'm being honest I've only heard a couple of her songs. Not to be hipster but I listened to Born To Die for the first time while I was doing a photo shoot with my model pretty much covered in fake blood. It made the feeling so much more surreal and really got her in the mood, too because she had been having some self-doubts.

Apart from that, I've listened to Video Games as well and it's probably my favorite song of the Mainstream-Pop genre. So I don't mind her one bit, or her appearance for that matter because it hasn't seemed to have affected her singing talent.
