Lady Gaga has so many videos that by pass the creativity in Papa Don't Preach. We might as well just end this exchange because you have your opinion which I consider wildly crazy and misinformed and you probably feel the same about mines and we won't change our minds but you can go ahead and keep thinking that Papa Don't Preach is more creative than Alejandro, Bad Romance and the Born This Way video.

What about Vogue? creative video- pretty good pop song

What about Express Yourself? creative video pretty good pop song

Madonna is not an icon JUST because she had creative music videos. She is an icon because she made pretty good pop songs that were creatively illustrated in video and stage.

You cant have one without the other.

They are artists so the music has to come first regardless of what the music video looks like.

Once again this discussion is not just about music videos. Its about EVERYTHING: song, lyric, production, performances, etc.

Alot of the type of music Gaga does was already done before i.g. David, Elton, Madonna etc.

So when I listen to her music I dont say " Wow this is so new and creative who would have thought of this?" lol But most young people think that because they are not expose to other styles of music or artists before their time.

Papa dont Preach was daring at the time because of the subject matter regardless of the video.

You dont have to like Madonna but I think you are minimizing her impact just because you prefer Gaga

Totally agree with this statement!

My vote is Madonna for prolificity and originality.

Options are Lady GaGa, Madonna, or Other
I always fall down on the side of Madonna on this one. Most probably because when growing up her songs were infectious even though you didn't admit it and you secretly hid The Immaculate Collection when your friends came around.

However there's another reason too. Madonna didn't have the team behind her GaGa did. Everything is commercial now, everything is spin, everything she does has marketing people behind it and Madonna essentially carved out her own career and created her own unique coverage,

For me whilst I like GaGa she's a little bit of a myth, a creation served up by those who knew how to use her to create something unique and she's bought into it and become what they invented anyway.

You are kidding yourself if you think that Madonna didn't have the same team that Lady Gaga has now.

Please!

i mean, it's tough to say, because Lady Gaga is a tremendous musician, artist, and singer, whereas Madonna is more of just a performer and singer. I have ten times more respect for Gaga, but I understand people love Madonna. She does have great songs, more than Gaga has yet, but at least Gaga plays a pretty large role in writing her songs.

Madonna co wroted/wrote majority of her early pop hits as well.

I think it is fair to call Madonna an artist too.
