So what? Maanky is clearly disagreeing with you about the quality of those songs, not whether or not they exist.

You are adding nothing to this.

You are just repeating that we both disagree.

And?

I was pointing out that the issue of the guy having hits isn't really the basis of the debate.

Princess of China is really really good. One of the best songs from that album for sure.

There's worse than Coldplay but it'd be the likes of Creed or Nickelback

Yeah, as Janz said. I don't deny he's managed to shift units. Hey, Bob the Builder managed to scoop two Number 1 singles over here at one point, doesn't make him an 'excellent songwriter'

I don't think we've got to the stage here where we're saying

commercial success = songwriting talent.

Completely fine if you want to discredit him because you don't like the songs that he has written.

I still think there is something to be said for having numerous hits. If it was just one or two. Then you could just brush it off as a fluke like those bob the builder songs but that's not the case.

You aren't having the same discussion it seems.

I like OneRepublic to be honest.

I feel like it has a little bit of originality to it, lyrics wise. Plus its a great song to jam to on the bus.
