Default Olivia Rodrigo

I guess MB is too cool to make this thread. Anyway...

I'm posting this because I keep reading that her new album - which is a great pop record - is inspired by Taylor Swift, which, ok compositionally I can understand, but I never hear anyone say she sings or affects like Lorde, and I'm wondering if other people are hearing that.

Beyond that...How about that Olivia Rodrigo album huh? Pretty great.

You know what, I won't lie, Driver's license is a great song, and I gave the album a go based on it. The songs are solid, music-wise, but I swear that whole "I hope you're happy with that bitch that stole you from me" shtick gets real old real fast. Too juvenile. Just move on already woman! He was never that into you! Jesus.

Don't think I'll be coming back to it.

I've said "like a damn sociopath!" probably 500 times since I first heard that new song on the radio

She is still quite young and just “pop up” on the POP scene. Still not sure if she will go somewhere from here or will become an one hit wonder.

As most other pop stars came from a Kids show (on Disney Channel).

On 2019 she was featured on High School Musical OST and released a single/song (“All I Want”) that was not very successful but still peaked #90 in US and TOP 40 in UK and Ireland.

Her debut single as pop artist (“Drivers License”) is being a huge hit (especially on streaming among teenagers) and hit #01 in over 20 countries already and TOP 10 in over 25 countries.

Personally I think the song ain’t very good and her voice is weak. I also don’t like her voice tone and got tired of the song after just 3 listenings. I change TV channel or radio station everytime the song pops up now as it even became anoying to my hears.

She's 18! Were you an ice-cold monster at that age?

It's a jam! The part where she's like "I've lost my mind, I spent the night" I've heard it in other songs before but it never feels to disappoint.

Lorde was 17 when she released Pure Heroine. Anyway, I don't mind singing about heartbreak, hell I love it normally, it's just the way that she does it that seems to get on my tits. But anyway.
