PhishFood 06-11-2005 08:32 PM

Fun Piece of trivia: Zappa has 74 Studio albums.

SATCHMO 06-11-2005 11:01 PM

Steve Vai got his start as Frank Zappa's music transcriber.

Oh yeah I'm his friend, and Zygomycota burnt them, it's all a symbiotic realationship

Zygomycota 07-21-2005 08:19 PM

But of course Phishfood, if that's your REAL name!

Zygomycota 07-21-2005 09:11 PM

It's a conspiracy...

Fav. Zappa song: "Tryin' To Grow A Chin" off of You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 1

bobinatcat 07-21-2005 09:55 PM

so what kind of music is it anyway...?

Zygomycota 07-21-2005 10:02 PM

Oh man, it is weird and crazy. Really political music. It's experimental, with some prog/art, with some jazz, with some classical, with some everything.

He's had awesome people in his band:

Steve Vai
Flo & Eddie
Captain Beefheart
Ike Willis
ect...

PhishFood 07-21-2005 10:38 PM

I've nothing more to say than "Zappa is god"

Ike Willis has a Frank Zappa tribute band called Project Object and they're INSANE!!!!! If you feel that you missed out on the live Zappa experience, this is as close as you're gonna' get !

tdoc210 07-22-2005 09:21 AM

tdoc210 07-22-2005 09:22 AM

SATCHMO 07-22-2005 01:22 PM

Dude, that is awesome!

Also, for anyone who likes band biographies and such, The Real Frank Zappa Book is a must read for any Zappa fan. Right now I'm reading the most recent biography on Zappa, and I must say it's pretty good....I'm listening to Beefheart right now.

tdoc210 07-23-2005 11:17 AM

deep purples ****in nuts too

dog 09-10-2005 05:51 AM

frank zappa

dont no much about this guy, and havent heard much of his stuff, but what i have heard is the album 'sheik yerbouti' (the name always makes me smile) which is really cool, my favourite songs being 'dancing fool' 'wild love' 'baby snakes' and 'rat tomago'.

one more thing, is there anybody here that actually owns all of zappa's stuff?\
apparently he released like 60+ albums.

dog 09-10-2005 06:33 AM

i hoped i never see the day when an alien ant farm thread has more posts than a zappa thread... :(

tdoc210 09-10-2005 10:20 AM

zappa is sick i dun have any of his stuff though uhh. but there should definatley be more posts about him

PhishFood 09-10-2005 11:29 AM

Now that is pretty lame.

boris jawaka 09-14-2005 04:39 PM

I love Zappa, a genius.

so many great great albums; weasels ripped my flesh, sheik yerbouti

he medled in all sorts of music which was unusual for a rock musician

like i said, a genius

boris jawaka 09-14-2005 04:41 PM

ive got 15 zappa albums on Cd and 2 on vinyl

i love Uncle Remus - greatest song ever

soundgardenrox 09-18-2005 03:55 PM

Zappa = the mad scientist of rock n' roll. He was greatness

boris jawaka 09-18-2005 04:45 PM

the Real Frank Zappa Book is hilarious

cardboard adolescent 05-17-2006 12:27 PM

Moley made me bump this.

So, this is the most pathetic official thread I have ever seen. For a musical genius, you think you people could muster up a bit more enthusiasm. I recently (last month) purchased Absolutely Free on vinyl and every time I listen to it I like it even more. Quickly becoming one of my favorite all-time albums.

Comments, anyone? Tell us, what is your favorite Zappa album. Zappa period, early, mid, late? I think his first couple Mothers albums are probably his best work. But that's just me.

shiftael 05-17-2006 03:46 PM

Apostraphe is great, Ship Arriving too Late, also great.. We're Only in it for the Money.. many many others..
