I had discovered this thread before I had discovered The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In. I had voted Alex Lifeson but now that I am a little more familiar with the list I'd go with Omar.

I love all the guitarists on this list (though I'm not sure Buckethead is really prog). I went for Steve Howe, because he is just... whoo. If I could cast more than one vote I'd give them to Robert Fripp, Jan Akkerman and John Petrucci.
