^^^Would typically vote for Pink Floyd out of loyalty, but since they'll win anyway, I'll use my vote for Comus since your vote was disqualified...

I know it's the cliche choice, but I went with Pink Floyd. Their grace and restraint puts them above most other progressive bands IMO.

King Crimson and Yes also did many great things in the '70s though, and I really need to hear more Can. I also dig both Soft Machine/Robert Wyatt and Neu!, and was surprised that neither were included in the poll.

A group should only be listed if it's one you would vote for. You could add every prog band from the 70s, but there's not much point except for having a more complete list - but such a list would also contain a lot of useless info that you'd have to mentally filter out (every band with 0 votes).

A way to construct a more proper poll may be to start with one band and then just add more as they get votes by posts in the thread .. then you'd just have to make sure the people who posted actually vote for the band after it's been added to the poll.

Pink Floyd are my favorite, but King Crimson are equally great. It's impossible to really compare them since they're pretty different.

I really like Yes, Can, and Jethro Tull too, but I have more of an attachment to KC and Floyd.

I think that if they had been included, Neu! and The Soft Machine would probably have gotten way more votes than the likes of Barclay James Harvest.

So many great bands up there.... but I had to go with Pink Floyd.

Do you have to criticize everything I do?

I'm not a psychic, I don't know which bands people will and wont vote for, I added the most well known prog bands of the period, I forgot about a few yes (Soft Machine), I can't cover them all hence the other option, but I wanted to get as specific as possible.

People here tend to like the more obscure bands.

If you write a thread that I participate in and I see room for improvement, I might. You'll see it wasn't just critizism, it was a suggestion for improvement which is far more constructive than the usual trolling.

What you do with that is up to you. F.ex you can sulk or you can take the suggestion and make a new and improved 70s thread. ;)
