i think (at least in my case, American) people have this obsession with playing and listening to jazz, like it's some sort of holy grail of music, as if to say, "look, i'm eclectic! watch me being eclectic, everybody!" i try to distance myself from that stereotype, because to me, it's nothing more than a fanciful way of getting people to recognize just exactly how far your head is up your arse.
My dad has had a lot of influence on my music tastes you see. I just really enjoy jazz, and the thought of playing it on a record player is more romantic and vintage. I think I was a flapper in another life. I didn't realise American's have a think for like Jazz to be eclectic?
