what made you punk?

this might have been done already but...... the thing that got me into punk was going to a yuppie school in new york city with a bunch of snotty yuppie kids. i just wanted to find a way to rebel and get my message heard in some ways. Punk let me release my message and my emotions. My first punk cd was stiff little fingers -inflammable material.

bungalow 11-20-2005 08:35 PM

When I was in 6th grade "Bad Habit" was out of control, I'd never heard anything like that tirade at the end of the song where the music drops out and its just vulgarities. I was impressed, and the energy of the record was amazing to me.

definitely, bad habit and self esteem are (in my opinion) two of the best songs theyve ever written. i dont think the offspring has put out another album that was quite as good.

funny story, i was on my way to six flags witha bunch of friends on saturday, and my friends brother was driving us. if you look up road rage, you will see his picture. we were listening that album and coincidentally the traffic got bad and he started yelling at people right as bad habit came on........we were about half way through compton........(yes we were lost.)

Yeah, that was third grade for me. You stupid, dumbshit goddamn motherfucker!! I though I was so cool...

Stark Reflection 12-01-2005 07:57 AM

Nothing made me "Punk" as i listen to everything from Punk to Metal to Rock to Elektronic to Noise ect.., but if your refering to what sparked my interest in the Punk scene and music it would be a combination of:

A: i traveld a lot with a friend a lot older than myself who had been into punk for a long time and we exchanged music quite a bit and after he introduced me to a bunch of Punk bands i wanted more...and so began my punk interest.

B: Philosophie more than anything from a transition from Misanphropy to Nihilism or even combined with a few Oppotunistic ways, Anarchism has a similar goal to Nihilism but the path you take to reach that point is diffrent between the two Philosophies...Punk expressed some powerfull messages and that furtherd my interest into the Punk scene.

Nihlism and anarchism are worlds apart. Nihlism is the evemy of anarchism on so many levels.

your joking right

sleepy jack 12-01-2005 04:32 PM

No.

cardboard adolescent 12-01-2005 04:41 PM

I didn't realize nihilism had a goal.

Stark Reflection 12-02-2005 02:59 AM

They are not as diffrent as one might conclude in terms of vision, the Anarchist would aim to free human existance of Goverment and Religeous oppression but still maintain Values in order to attain this, Nihilism doesnt nesscerily have a goal but there is a vision as one cannot be a Passive Nihilist (Read the Sig) Nihilism also seeks to free human existance of Govermant Oppression and Religeon but also disposes of all Baseless Values and realises that which is Tangible an that which is not...the goal of both visions is the same but Anarchy is a much diffrent route to attain that vision and Nihilism would dispose of much more than that which Anarchy would.

Both share a similar enemy...that is where i made the comparison.
In these Respects Anarchy and Nihilism are close in Vision but in terms of Practice...they are very diffrent.
