I love the furs, especially Forever Now. President Gas is such an amazing track!

Can anyone recommend similar bands?

Big FURS fan here. Richard Butler has a really contagious voice ala Ian from Joy Division.

For similar bands maybe try Love Spit Love, The Church or Echo and the Bunnymen.

Their first 3 albums are gold. Mirror Moves and Midnight to Midnight were disappointing and I havent checked out anything after the latter. I'm more than happy to stick with their early 80's stuff.

One of my favorite bands. I preferred their earliest stuff (especially their first album. "Sister Europe" is a gorgeous tune.) but I have never not liked any song they put out. I never really considered Richard Butler to be a great singer..but for some reason, when he sings, I just really enjoy listening to it, regardless of the tune. Besides the bands reccommended, I would add The Smiths, (early) The Cure, Dragon, OMD, and perhaps even Ultravox (not the same sort of music..the Furs were not Synth but Midge Ure has a very good voice). Room Nine as well.

No, not a big fan. The Furs were considered "punk for preppies".

I'm not quite sure they're punk, but they were good. They're getting a resurgence on Pandora.

This is honestly my favorite song by the band. Pulls the heartstrings every time for real.
