Maybe if that were true.

How come no one has mentioned the Damned? They pre-date most others mentioned in this thread.

The Dead Boys even came before the Ramones as well if I remember correctly.

Because the Damned's first gig was opening for the Sex Pistols, they really just got their debut out quickly.

The Dead Boys are seriously overlooked in Punk's history. Their debut came out in 1977 as well.
