Don't assume that I just like this commerical, near-powerpop of pop punk. I do listen to the real raw too. Descendents, Bracket, Lagwagon, MxPx, and Millencolin have all found a spot in my musical taste. |
Whenever I want to remind myself that punk is long dead in all but name I just think of the regressive louts of 'Oi!' Punk in the UK, and the meatheads that attacked Henry Rollins at every Black Flag gig when they showed any sign of progression in the US.
The commodification of punk was obviously what alot of people on this forum grew up with (my first gig was the Offspring), which is fair enough, I can think of worse 'first records' than 'Dookie'. |
Last time I checked Dookie wasn't Green Day's first record.
I meant the first record one buys, not the first record the band made.
Ah... I was gonna say. Everyone knows Green Day made records before Dookie.
the ramones, the clash, and the sex pistols are examples of old school punk
