Yes but it's Stiff Little Fingers & the Clash that allegedly influenced Green Day... and their early stuff in my opinion wasn't bad. I love Time Of Your Life for nostalgia's sake. I wouldn't call the early stuff "hardcore", though, just... I dunno. Genuine. What "sellout" means to me is not genuine. FOB to me, and the bands that follow in that "catergory" are not genuine because they're mass-produced and whatnot, just too general to be genuine if you will. Out to make money. Then again, sub-question, is it wrong to disown a band for being famous? Cobain killed himself cuz he was too famous (at least, that's the popular theory), and people still love Nirvana. But Nirvana, to me, was genuine. See, people like bands like Nirvana and Radiohead not because they're shoved down your throat 24/7 by the media, but because they're just GOOD.
