thats not a real genre...
and tom delonge is much more famous for being in blink 182 than his extremely poorly received new project |

becuase if its pop...its not punk
in what way are blink 182 for example punk? they dont seem to have anything to do with it in terms of music or image its all a lot closer to pop rock than punk and its mtv sanctioned which is pretty much the most unpunk thing in the world |

You have to remember that Blink 182 and the rest only represent the mainstream side to pop punk, then you have bands like Screeching Weasel and Operation Ivy and, back in the day, the Buzz****s which show a much better side to it all. |
i concede you have your point
i still dont think id credit it as punk |
Well saying whats punk and what's not is enormously subjective, despite what some people think, it's all down to what your concept of punk is. I was just saying the similarities Blink and the rest have to 'proper' punk bands.

yes i know
i personally dont hear that much similarity in the form maybe a harmonic simplicity and simple structure but their topics are usually much more whiny "my girl friend keft me stuff" to me punk was an era as much as it was a genre and was supposed to be completely against the prepackaged commercial stuff we now receive via bands such as blink |
Fall Out Boy only puts up one minute of their songs for you to hear on Myspace. Even Avril Lavigne lets you hear the full song.

This has to be the most tedious thread in the history of this forum.
"I'm so hardcore because I don't buy my t shirts from this shop blah blah blah" ...repeat to infinity |
