I could also have put The offspring. And I said I wasn't gonna put 80s bands. But yeah, 7 seconds, Suicidal tendencies, Descendents: good stuff.

So does like ska punk fit into this? Cause Less Than Jake would be a good candidate for the poll if it is.

To be honest, I usually associate NOFX with skating, if only because they have an expansive library and all the skaters around here seem to like them. But out of the bands discussed here, the Dead Kennedys are definitely my favorite.
How about some Bad Brains?

i still don't get what makes a band "skate punk". Can someone tell me?

I take it as melodic 90's punk (FAT Wreck Chord/ Epitaph) bands. I have heard the sound being described as Cali punk. But suicidals are also often thrown into the genre, probably becasue the wrote songs about skating.
I think alot of the cali punk bands were called skater punk because the band member often skated, they wore similar styles of clothing, and there music was often featured in skate videos.

Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains, I really can't see why they would be called skater punk.

BTW I picked NOFX based on there first 4 or 5 albums.

As most of the choices are early 90s Fat Wreck type bands I'd also throw in Bracket, Face To Face & Shelter. From the list I'd vote for Strung Out...

Bracket & Face to Face are good, but not really aggressive enough. More like Pop-punk. And I just heard Shelter a few minutes ago on Pandora.com. Pretty good.

Yeah, Bracket has some mellow stuff, but they've got a few songs that'd be pretty good to skate to (Everyone Is Telling Me I'll Never Win, Trailer Park, etc).

But yeah, they're more like pop-punk.
