They were a singles band. None of their albums are that good.

Totally get what you're saying Bat. But the same could be said for billions of bands.

Honestly I'm gonna go listen to News of the World cause that's the only Queen album I remember thinking of as solid from beginning to end. So I'll defer my opinion for the moment though I more or less agree with you.

Their debut is solid and also pretty damn cohesive. Heavy too. II is still my fave though.

I tried to get into Queen's discography. Maddeningly inconsistent albums, so I agree with Fluff that they're a singles band. Favourite Queen album = Queen Greatest Hits II...

That makes them overrated in my eyes, as so many other bands have as good or better songs and also manage to have consistent albums.

I'll have to go to those albums cause News of the World is exactly the kind of bland showtunes rock I don't care about from Queen. I just feel like skipping every track. It's weird though cause I bought this album in high school and loved the absolute **** out of it and it was a godly album to me. Now not at all.

Yeah no Queen's first album is tedious as ****. **** that. Is it not possibly that Queen scratches an itch that no longer exists, Chula? The world changes.

Lots of great things get ignored by most people, so that's hardly a good way criticize any band.

I can still dig the majority of Night at the Opera.

I think as much as I love thrash there's a very good reason why it died. Thrash never had the all-consuming assault on the senses that death and black metal and grindcore do, but it still has its place. But the place of true importance has still been consumed by other forms of metal. It's simply a form of metal that isn't at the forefront and can never be again. You just have to have a certain taste for it to still be important and that's what I imagine Queen's place to be.

Their time has passed and it will only be relevant to a minority of people who have a taste for that form of rock. They are no longer relevant even if there are still fans who are picking up what they're putting down.
