I kinda disagree. In a haze of insanity I took hip hop classes with one of my friends and it gave me the ability to distinguish between hip hop sons

I checked out Aus-Rotten when I wanted to check out crust punk, they're supremely cool. last.fm isn't such a bad thing for this kind of inquiry either.
crust punk tag – Music at Last.fm |
Is crust really a music genre or am I missing something?
|
Yes it is. There are endless numbers of genres. You could go and make up a genre now if you wanted too. I wouldn't suggest it, but you could do it.
|
West North Carolina has a pretty decent crust scene.
|
^ i have no clue about geography so is that including ashville
|

hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=RDY0690U Phoenix Bodies - Raise The Bull**** Flag (2006) A good mix of hardcore, metal, and screamo. Pretty sweet stuff. hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=5FPV7TR5 Pig Destroyer - Prowler In The Yard (2001) Some of the best grindcore ever recorded. hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=VTGLALBA Swing Kids - Discography (1997?) Great hardcore punk/emo. If you like Iconoclast, I highly recommend it. hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?70b0nrw5umo Phobia - Grind Your Fucking Head In (2003) Crust punk influenced grindcore. Essential to any album collection. hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=0E3NMBPB Aus-Rotten - The Rotten Agenda (2001) One of the best crust punk bands ever. Good lyrics and catchy rhythms. hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=BXBLFDNQ Dystopia - The Aftermath (1999) Essential. Sounds like Disrupt and Nausea except harder. |

I went to Lawrence KS just to go see Kylesa and Genghis Tron. It was only two f*cking dollars! Needless to say, it was an amazing show. More people need to check these guys out! |
Behind Enemy Lines (USA)
Tragedy (USA) Diskonto (SWE) Totalt Jävla Mörker (SWE) November 13th (GER) Massgrav (SWE) His Hero is Gone (USA) Paragraf 119 (DK) These are my favourite Crust\Anarcho-Bands, they're all quiet modern, but all that classic stuff like Discharge, Amebix etc. is amazing, too! I can upload you some stuff, if you want |
Good lizt rah ther ^
|
Ive been listening to Holy Mountain, His Hero is Gone, Aus-Rotten, Down To Agony, Behind Enemy Lines, From Ashes rise, & Tragedy.... anyone want to up some recommendations?
|
---extreme noise terror- grind crust---
If we have to label them I would say grind punk. Also try: Cerebral Fix Genital Deformities Sacrilege (First album only) This is late 80's stuff, but essential. Boltthrower may float some peoples boats, but they did veer towards metal. The Hard-On's were a great Anarcho band from Australia. i'm still trying to track down their debut **** CHEESE. |
swing kids ain't ****ing punk
|
Crust and Anarcho-Punk
Most punk i find incredibly boring.. maybe this is because i grew up listening to hardcore and doom metal, I dunno.
Crust and anarcho punk however have that extreme edge that is missing from other punk.. that edge that makes you go out and riot. The politics are spot on.. I dunno about anyone else, but I cant listen to politically-fuelled bands unless I agree with their politics.. so you can imagine my joy as an atheist, anarchist, anti-war, tree-hugger when I first discovered Aus-Rotten and Behind Enemy Lines. :yeah: Also loving: Oroku I Object! Voetsek Garmonbozia Fall of Efrafa Disfear Madam Germen Ekkaia Remains of the Day From Ashes Rise His Hero Is Gone Schifosi Tragedy Skitsystem Leader**** Down To Agony Victims Contravene Catharsis Antischism Kakistocracy Anyone else? |
ah.. i see, a thread merge. Are any of these people still around?
