Old school punk is where it's at man. I don't know why so many people these days call screamo bands hardcore or whatever. Makes no sense.

Refused first album is sick.

Is there really a point to new bands sounding like old bands, I'd rather just take the old ****, and the new **** that doesn't sound anything like the old **** but is still good, so I can listen to Minor Threat and Converge and it's still all hardcore to me.

Yeah, I've always wondered why punk fans look at progression with such disdain.

DoucheGuy 12-16-2010 08:58 PM

Well, punk was a response of sorts to "progressive rock".

Punk was in response to a lot of things, but I don't think the entire punk movement was sophisticated or organized enough to even consider itself, at the time, a response to prog rock. Maybe in hindsight, but certainly not at the time.

Could you really call it a movement then?

I think a lot of fans would consider current trends regression in most ways(style, sound, message).

Considering hundreds of years ago classic composers dominated music and now 3 chords punk songs can be on top id call that a mighty big regression.

Not that its a bad thing. Personally I would rather hear the Clash anyday over some classical composer.
