Overrated by whom? Every one I know and underrates them and certainly they don't get the respect as they deserve on this forum. It's because they were quite popular that music nuts automatically assume they're no good just to go against the grain, even if that's not their intention it's certainly what it seems like. I'm not saying you have to like Nirvana, but realize that nobody is overrating them these days aside from a few fanatical teenagers who'll move on to something else soon anyway.

Lol holy crap same. I've asked them what other music they like and it's always "Bowling for Soup", "Taking Back Sunday", "Weezer" ...

Hahahaha people are funny. I'm just glad there aren't many music snobs at my school (aside from those few metal heads everyone seems to have).

Pixies. I used to like both bands equally, I think I was just listening to Pixies and not really hearing. Then one day it completely clicked and they're now my favourite band.

Nirvana come nowhere close to being as good as Pixies for me.

i'm not sure that's entirely true. i mean I am skimming through a recent issue of rolling stone claiming that Smells Like Teen Spirit is the 9th greatest song ever written. I would disagree with that. I understand that really the issue is refferring to the implications that these songs had on both ther generations in whih they were made and on the future of music from the point in which they had their impact but still. 9th GREATEST song ever? a bit overrated.

hardly even listened to by the mainstream of kids anymore but still held up as god like by the critics. that's my only realy point.

and pixies over nirvana all the way baby :]

Funny how my opinions have changed over time. When I saw the thread title, I was like "Of course the Pixies! What kind of comparison is this?" and then I saw how I voted.

All I'll say is that the Pixies crafted my favorite song of all time, Debaser.
