When I was 13 I heard Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys and was blown away. I got into a lot of old school hardcore and post-punk at the time too. Never Mind the Bollocks was the first punk album I had bought. Over the course of one year I evolved from your typical pseudo-metalhead to an entry-level punk fan. I got into Crass, Joy Division, Minor Threat and Bauhaus as well. Three years later I still enjoy these bands, but my taste in music has also expanded and modernized.

D.R.I. sometime around 1987-1988 when I bought the Dirty Rotten LP.
After that it was all about them Dead Kennedys,7 Seconds,Poison Idea,Misfits and such before I started to learn about the swedish and other european scenes.
I am still heavily into the style they call fastcore or whatever it is.

In the mid/late 70's all I cared about was Kiss,Alice Cooper, Aerosmith,Nugent, Sabbath, BOC...etc. I remember when the Sex Pistols came out it was almost an unwritten law that if you were a fan of Hard Rock you had to hate the Punk movement which I did but something intrigued me about it. I remember I was on vacation one summer up North & Canada & there was only one radio station we could pull in & it was a rock station which was cool. One night the DJ said he was going to play something that he probably shouldn't & he played "God Save the Queen". I immediately hated it but actually I didn't mind the music (I just felt like I had to hate it). At one point my Uncle knew someone who worked in a record store & would give him a few records for me. One day he brought home Rocket to Russia by the Ramones & told me it was supposed to be harder than Kiss. I laughed at it & soon traded it to a friend for Bad Co. Straight Shooter.
Later that year I was listening to an interview with Pete Townshend & he was saying how he loved Punk because it went back to the roots of Rock & then he compared the Pistols "Pretty Vacant" to "My Generation" & they played the songs back to back. I was pretty blown away by Pretty Vacant & now was kind of accepting Punk & the thing that put me over the edge was seeing Rock & Roll High School. I immediately bought Rocket to Russia & I was now a Ramones fan.
Probably around '81 I seen Pat Benatar live & was blown away by the opening act the David Johansen Band. I knew of him from issues of Rock Scene & then I realized he was in the NY Dolls who I would never give the time of Day to. I bought the 2 Dolls albums & that was it I was really changed musically. I became a huge mark for Johnny Thunders & to this day I consider 'L.A.M.F.' the Greatest Punk album of all time

The first punk song I ever really remember listening to was The Angelic Upstart's "I'm An Upstart". I was in my cool older sister's apartment on her massive itunes library, and I was like 10.
I'm glad I was turned on to punk by a legit 70's British punk band. No offense to all those Offspring/Blink-182 folks out there, but this stuff is the REAL deal.
On the downside, it did take me a long time to start listening to anything post-1980 with an open mind xD.

A lot happened between 1980 and Offspring/Blink182.

When I was 10 my mom had the Ramones debut on vinyl and it blew me away having never heard it before. I then fell in love with the Clash.
