Meh Punk is DEAD! Muwahaha. Ahem.

On a serious note I think Punk came about because folks were being spoon fed 'trends'. Unlike any other genre I think Punk came about in a kind of rebellious way? People were sick of the little sheepies in society. Most people feel it all kicked off with the Pistols, but I think they made it into a bit of a novelty in some ways.

So what is Punk? It's individuality, brashness, balls and a helluva choon.

Happy now?

^ yeah too bad now folks are being spoon fed "punk trends." some people dont know anything about the music, but they know how long their spikes and mohawks should be. Individuality? No. The punk you speak of is a mere fashion trend.

^ oh darling, that's exactly what I implied. I think these definitions are pointless. A lot of the people that posted in this thread don't even contribute to the punk forum. That leads me to believe a lot of people are defining a genre they don't even listen to. That's all.

I think it's so great when someone says they know what punk is, then you ask them if they listen to the music, and they say they don't need to listen to the music to know what 'punk is'.

yeah, pretty lame, but there are many different opinions of punk...who is to say which is the right one?
I may not listen to ALL punk music that is around, but I love the music I love and that's it, and I love the "I don't care" look.
I hate perfectly kept "messy" hair, or a clean leather jacket with glimmering spikes....so weak....
