Okay, and that's fine, but tone-wise, what other punk band is comparable to F*cked Up?

Punk bands that have better guitar tone? Sex Pistols, TSOL, Black Flag, OFF!, RKL, Dr Know, Bad Brains, Ceremony, and Dead Kennedys.

I definitely disagree on all of those, except for perhaps Dead Kennedys or Bad Brains. I can't say I get overly excited about the rest. Like OFF!? Really? Don't get me wrong, I like their "First Four EPs" compilation a lot, but there is nothing new or overly special about them, let alone their guitar tone.

Are we saying something new or something better? Because if new obviously none of them are. If we are talking about better I find them all to be better than ****ed Up's.

Default I'm in agreement pretty much here.

I love ****ed up, but I just saw them shortly before the Butthole Surfers show at the Richshaw in Van, and I gotta say the Buttholes were the standouts by far. I stand by my conviction that Paul Leary is one of the best/original guitarists in the world. I love Nomeansno and the last time I saw them (a few weeks ago) was one of the best sets I've ever seen them do. I suppose I should have included Spike Cassidy of DRI. I just saw them in Seattle.
I recommend the San Fran band HIGHTOWER to all who are interested in punk/space rock/thrash music. They seriously rock.

Better, and I personally find the rest of them to be a lot less tonally exciting (save for DK and Bad Brains).

Tony Roberts. Raw, blistering, ear shattering noise. Beautiful.

Also Steve Lucas. Great riffs for a great band. The Subhumans get alot of flack because seemingly everybody likes them. I find The Day the country died to be one of the best punk albums of all time.

Black Flag > ****ed Up

basically if you don't agree then your punk opinion doesn't really count for much, and to say that Mike Haliechuk is tonally superior to Greg Ginn is idiotic on a galactic level.

as for who i think is brilliant
Johnny Genzale (Thunders)
Tom Verlaine
Fred "Sonic" Smith
Joe Mellor (Strummer)
Brian James
Guy Picciotto
