Never heard of Dystopia, Circle Takes The Square and Ramshackle Glory(Which makes sense looking at their sub genres), but I really like your choices.. I'm loving the ska punk. I prefer Streetlight´s version of Keysbay Nights though, but it´s mostly because I´m more used to that one. I also have my fair shair of albums that were close :c.

I forgot, Subhumans- The Day The country Died, is also very close for me.

I know, it was reeeeally hard for me, so I just listed 80's punk rock and hardcore punk bands. Angry Samoans, 7 Seconds and Subhumans were examples of bands I wanted to put there as well. The only reason I made this is because we already had one for metal.

This is the second time in the past few days that I've seen Rudimentary Peni at the top of one of your lists and I have to admit, though I know the name, I don't think I've ever listened to them. Going to have to remedy that. :)

Janszoon 09-22-2014 07:47 AM

10. The Modern Lovers—The Modern Lovers
9. Social Distortion—Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell

bob. 09-22-2014 07:59 AM

anybody who quotes that line from Braveheart is a friend of mine :)

and i have to say Rudimentary Peni is right up your alley man.....great punk rock with smart lyrics deal with social issues....and layered heavily with gothic tones....very dark stuff and a must for fans of good punk who also love and respect goth greats like Alien sex Fiend and Bauhaus

i just want to point out that my list....and this was only to make it easier for myself does not include bands that i would consider to be more than just a punk band....ie Jawbreaker and RFTC as well as any and all "post punk" acts

also Psy Fi....i'm glad to see more Wipers....uit was really hard for me to choose from their first three albums.....Is It Real? just rocks me a tad bit more that Youth of America :)

Justthefacts 09-22-2014 11:41 AM

The Menzingers - On The Impossible Past
The Descendants - Milo Goes To College
Black Lips - Arabia Mountain
Cloud Nothings - Attack On Memory/Here & Nowhere Else (tie)
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine (Dance-punk)
Iceage - New Brigade (Post-punk)
The Thermals - The Body, The Blood, The Machine
Titus Andronicus - Airing of Grievances
Andrew Jackson Jihad - Knife Man (Folk-punk)
The Gaslight Anthem - The 59' Sound

Hope I'm not limited to just straight up punk, cause all these records have elements of punk in them, even if they incorporate other sounds as well.

I find it to be much superior to Legacy and Walk among Us.In fact I couldn't believe that Static Age was recorded before Walk Among Us as some of the songs went beyond the standard Punk style and could be considered Post-Punk.

Is it just me or is Last Caress and Teenagers From Mars on Static sound less intense on here than on Collection/Beware?

Which songs? I've always felt that Static Age had a more garagey, proto-punk sound than their later stuff.

 Menzingers all the way. Although I've only heard that record by them, but come on, that records a masterpiece.

Come Back,Tv Casualty.
I think you're right "garagey, proto-punk" is more accurate description of the sound.

So many people seem to love Static Age, it's usually the fan favourite, but I don't like it at all :/

Chamberlain's waiting is also really good, it's the second album.

For seperate songs, I listened more to On The Impossible Past.
When listening to the whole album, I've listened more to Chamberlain Waits. In other words, I like more songs on Chamberlain Waits, So I actually think it's better as an album. It's just that On The Impossible past has some of their best songs.

My personal favourite songs on Chamberlain Waits are:
''I was Born'', ''Home Outgrown'', ''Tasker- Morris Station'', ''Rivalries'' and ''Chamberlain Waits''..

Came to this thread for the only purpose of find the person that would make the mistake of listing any Green Day album as a top ten Punk album. I wanted to laugh. Screw you all for having good taste.

...I don't have a list, sadly. But I approve of all the ones here so far.

Carry on.

Poison Idea - Feel the Darkness
Wolfbrigade - Prey to the World

White Lung - Deep Fantasy

Mondo Bungle 10-07-2014 08:34 PM

I haven't listened to Deep Fantasy yet. Top ten status?

EPOCH6 10-07-2014 08:56 PM

I've never given much time to classics, so my top 10 lists across most genres always seem to be missing a lot of givens (in this case hey EPOCH6 where's the Bad Brains, Black Flag, Misfits, Adolescents etc). I've got a nasty thing for White Lung and it's likely clouding my judgement in the face of the obvious giants of punk, so no it's probably not universal top 10 material at all, but personally I loved it. If you enjoy their past work you'll enjoy the new LP, it's pretty much another improvement upon their already established sound, maybe a bit more visceral.

GuD 10-07-2014 10:10 PM

Is it awful to say I'm surprised to see the Adolescents mentioned a couple times?

Don't get me wrong, it's a good album. Rick Agnew's guitar playing is awesome and fits in surprisingly well during his stay with Christian Death. But top 10?

Thanks! Flogging Molly is mostly on there because they were my gateway drug back when I was a kid. They ended up also being my first punk show ever, too. Since then I find them a little hard to listen to (unless I'm drinking), but I felt they deserved a nod since they led me to exploring the genre.

GuD 01-13-2015 10:57 PM

I get it. I'd probably say the same thing about Dookie for myslef.

Dylstew 01-14-2015 06:51 AM

Flogging Molly is still a pretty good band though, imo.

smegheaded 04-13-2015 09:35 AM

oh man...this is gonna take me a few minutes, I've never actually assembled this list in my head. I'm gonna flip through my library and see what I can come up with. :)
