I can't believe I'm responding to this, but to me punk is more a matter of personal integrity than music. there have been a lot of artists/ people who have nothing to do with punk music who's lives and personal ethics have made them punk rock. When I think of the original punk music I think of people like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Charles Mingus...all people who lived by their own muse and defied the conventional standard. people who weren't afraid to hurl rocks into the face of the beast. There is a particular sound asociated with punk music, but that same sound is being used by corporate record companies to sell records to naive children looking for an excuse to rebel. Is it any wonder that kids come on here with a misconstrued notion of what punk is? There being spoon fed garbage music everyday and being told that its there vehicle of personal expression and individuality.

Punk is a overhyped word that never REALLY meant anything and still doesn't. The word "SATCHMO" is looking for is 'different', in my opinion anyway.
