A logical discussion about genres? You're high.

Pop has like three different meanings in music.

1. Popular music.

2. Music that's hella catchy or some ****, like Britney Spears and ****.

3. Music that isn't classical, jazz, or folk (there's a word for that, but I forget)

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I always thought of Greenday as pop-punk and alternative. Now, personally I'd be more likely to lump pop-punk acts with pop music over punk music, but that's just me.
