Cause nobody was ever willing to be as absurd as them in that way so they don't have any contemporaries to make them sound like any time period. The most you can say about them is that they sound like they recorded albums before digital recording techniques. I even feel weird calling them a punk band at times cause no matter how many bands stole from them they were always doing so while trying to sound like a British or Cali or NYHC band and not the Ramones. There's something gloriously uncool about the Ramones.

Later maybe I’ll rank all 42 songs from the first three 1-42 and see how it pans out that way
Yeah I got this down to 18 songs and I'm stuck so I'm just listening to all of them over and over again and comparing them one by one and hoping it takes me a long time to figure out what four songs to cut and what order they go in.

Aaaand just increased to 19 songs cause that "Surfin' Bird" cover is amazing.

I honestly can't believe you didn't include that "Let's Dance" cover on your list. It's pure top shelf and Joey delivers those lines in such a weird but charming way.

You know all I did was compare the first track on all three records and chose my favorite of only those three and then again with the second track on all three records and so on. It’s not an overall top 14 from all three records.

Mos def but as the 12th track it was up against Commando and Ramona

Commando is the clear champ imo and Ramona is really hard to beat as well
