It was Americana era, but I soon was presented to their previous albums and don't know which one I prefer, if Ixnay on the Hombre or Smash.

So I actually got into punk in my early 20's, I'm from a farm town in wisconsin and had really never heard any punk until I moved to the west coast. The first "punk" band I ever heard was Blink 182. Since I didn't know anything about punk and didn't have the internet, I asked some friends from California about punk and they gave me "And Out Comes The Wolves", and that's the first punk music I ever fell in love with. Rancid is still my favorite band

You seem to be a nice person so I'm just pretending I didn't read that!

You literally don't know anything about punk. Punk started two decades before Green Day. Green Day were just the band to make it popular again.

First punk bands I loved were Green Day and The Ramones.

I don't know who exactly could be considered the first punk band, but CBGB definitely helped play a huge part in giving artists a place to develop their sound and the genre.

(On that note, I recently saw a really fun movie about CBGB. It's available on Amazon Prime Video, and it's called CBGB.)

When I moved from England to Australia, my uncle sent me a mix tape that opened with London Calling, so I guess The Clash were my first punk band.
