For the history of punk, yeah, but In terms of energy **** no, the sex pistols can suck my ass.

Your mother can suck the corn from my ass. And Johnny Rotten's energy carried the band over the moon.

Dylstew 06-15-2017 04:10 PM

Bad Brains live videos own the **** out of them.

(Btw I can't stop laughing because of your insult I gotta admit that was good)

The Batlord 06-15-2017 04:14 PM

Not commenting on which band was better, but would you disagree that the Sex Pistols and "Anarchy in the UK" did cause the most massive waves in the scene ever?

I don't disagree with historical impact outside of the music but I meant how impactful the actual music feels to listen to this day due to the energy and that album bores me after 2 songs. Plus they were a manufactured boy band.

And yet you were defending Green Day in your other thread. Well, that settles it. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Green day literally is was half a pop group and is one now though. It's pretty upfront about what it is. Also as said I barely listen to them, and most of their new stuff sucks donkey boner.

Keep trying to display cognitive thought about subjects. I find them amusing.

Never Mind the Bollocks is massive to me, so **** you. And while the Sex Pistols might have been manufactured by the time Sid Vicious joined, they were a legit band when Glen Matlock was bassist. He wrote all but two of the songs on the debut, and for the most part they were the best part of the Sex Pistols.

The Sex Pistols might have been taking fashion cues from Malcolm McLaren, and he might have put Johnny Rotten as vocalist, but he didn't write those songs (which I love) and he didn't make Johnny Rotten into the vocalist that he became.

However much influence McLaren may have had on the Sex Pistols, they were still a fantastic band.

Janszoon 06-15-2017 05:33 PM

I don't know if I can name the most energetic and impactful punk song, but this is certainly up there for me:

Yeah the British punk scene was entwined with fashion which was an art in itself

But we're talking about a band that had to play under different names for the 2nd half of their incredibly short career because Sex Pistols was banned everywhere

omg are we in agreement about the sex pistols?

I love his vocals here so much. Hell, the entire punk era of suicidal tendencies is the ****.

Also the manufactured thing is pretty much a meme at this point, I'm using it to sound even more edgy

TFW at that time, getting your music distributed at all involved selling out like a basic ho.

Just came here to say that Sex Pistols suck and the fact that so much punk is influenced by them makes a huge chunk of punk suck as well.

The Sex Pistols-like punk sure is. Some of what is usually labeled as proto- and post-punk (but might just be called punk) is among the best music ever done.

stfu you don't like pop either

grindy 06-16-2017 02:43 PM

I like pop.
That type of punk just isn't very good pop.

"Impactful"

MidnightRambler 06-29-2020 07:03 PM

I'd have to go with All the Young Punks (New boots & contracts) by The Clash

The Batlord 06-29-2020 07:07 PM

If this doesn't count them I'm burning this thread to the ground.

MidnightRambler 06-29-2020 07:40 PM

As long as nobody tries to list anything by Bikini Kill or Propagandhi, I'm good

Marie Monday 06-30-2020 01:38 AM

Bikini Kill is great you nonce

MidnightRambler 06-30-2020 08:25 AM

No, Bikini Kill was awful.

I'd hesitate to say that any so-called "riot grrl" music was listenable. It was just something that you said that you were into so that people would think that you were cool & PoLiTiCaLLy AwArE.

Same goes for "hardline"
