He has some catchy songs, and gets a good sensation of energy on a track.
His lyrics are pretty funny too, in an over the top kind of way.

Why is being a pop rapper immediately looked upon as bad?
Being a popular rap artist is one thing but being a pop rapper is another.

Soulja boy is a pop rapper. If you think DMX and Soulja Boy are on the same side of the rap coin then thats all on you.

But you would be incorrect.

Also its very easy to look past his bad songs when you have songs like Fame, Slippin, Look Thru My Eyes, and Ready to Meet Him to listen to. His batting avg on his albums is actually very very good. Meaning the ratio of songs real DMX fans like and songs casual rap fans like (thats normally because they havent even heard the album they hear party up and think every track on the album sounds like that).

DMX is in no way a pop rapper and his pop song everyone keeps refering to "Party Up in here' isnt that pop it has a diss aimed at eminem (only artist Em didnt completely destroy in a dispute besides Nelly who FYI admitted defeat). DMX was always hard maybe sometimes beyond believable and he says that about some of his songs as well like "X is coming"
But his quality is amoung the best if he would of stayed retired he would of a made history as only artist to go #1 with every realese. And considering 2 realeses in 1 yr going number one thats unheard of. And his newest album maybe didnt have as many quality songs but it was still better then any post 2000 artist out(really like wrong or right). His next double realese will be a nice show I dont know how gospel record well go but you can always count on a solid rap record.

Party up... is another diss aimed at Ja Rule.

Think about it if X and Em had beef 2 things would have happened.

1) Em would have responded directly.
2) Em and X wouldnt have collaborated on a Ja Rule diss "Go To Sleep" which can be found on the Cradle to the Grave soundtrack.

Default The diss

First go to sleep was a joint diss towards Ja Rule but only reason they were on it togather was because Em signed 50 and he got X and Em to give up there subliminal dissing or close to dissing I think it was probably mostly them misunderstanding each other and then decidng not to pursue it to harshly

Eminem "wheres my dogs at, (bark), Wheres my frogs at (rippet)"

DMX "And I don't know who the **** you think you talkin to
but I'm not him, aight slim? So watch what you do"
"What's gon' be the outcome? Hmm, let's add up all the factors
You wack, you're twisted, your girl's a hoe
You're broke, the kid ain't yours, and e'rybody know
Your old man say you stupid, you be like, "So?
I love my baby mother, I never let her go""
