Best Rapper

I'm getting a little tired of the other threads about the worst rapper.
So I'm making a new thread.
Like the title implies, who do you think is the best rapper.
(anybody that says 50 cent should lay of the drugs or start doing some)

My favorite rappers are Dead Prez, Cypress Hill, Nas, Ghostface Killer, Mos Def, Eminem, Mobb Deep, Big Pun, DMX (before he became blah), Jada Kiss, and the Wu Tang Clan and all the solo albums except those made by Red Man and Method Man who are jokes without the rest of the clan.
I am also a big fan of Ms. Jade and Missy Elliot's earlier work. that stuff rocks. Ms. Jackie O is kinda good but some of her songs just make me wanna throw up.

PS: It feels like I screwed up the poll cause I'm definitely forgetting somebody.
Peace

Why yes. You forgot Pac and Biggie, silly.

Pac and Nas are tied for me. They are lyrically different and similar in many aspects. I think Pac had a very good delivery, not to mention SO MANY classic songs. Nas is like a poet, that has so much versatility and savvy.

I ended up voted for Wu Tang though, only b/c they are my favorite hip hop group of all time. Raekwon is a professional...and listening to Gza and Ghostface...sometimes I just have no idea what they are talking about...those crazy shaolin ninjas....

Today...

Tech. Hands down.

Special shout outs go to Mystic, Esinchill, and the dopest female MC ever... Jean Grae.

ryder 05-25-2006 06:58 PM

maybe people need to stop making these polls cause no ones ever gonna get it right even if i made one it wouldnt be right. no one can agree on peoples list of best or worst. some agree but most dont. Ms Jackie O shouldnt be on there shes far from being the best. Should make polls of whos the best underground and the best mainstream rapper. One rapper i never hear get props is AZ. AZ is very underrated. Ive listened to all those people on the list but some people dont know a few of those names.

ryder 05-25-2006 07:01 PM

i hear so much about how immortal technique is the best i like him too but no ones voted for that yet.

i kill people 05-25-2006 07:39 PM

i sher as hell will hes the ****

i kill people 05-25-2006 07:40 PM

i sher as hell will hes the s**t

bungalow 05-25-2006 07:42 PM

It's hard for me to choose between some of those.

Nas
Immortal Technique
Dead Prez
Wu Tang

All greats. :[ If only we could vote twice.
I voted technique by the way...

shiftael 05-25-2006 09:24 PM

me too with me its' between Jay Z, Immortal Technique, and Em... Immortal Technique is a recent acquired taste

For me it was Between IT and Wu tang....i chose IT

Rabid Sea Turtles 05-26-2006 12:53 PM

For me Nas and Immortal Technique tie. I voted Nas just because he has been getting heavy play lately.

Raine 05-26-2006 05:17 PM

um..
You guys could choose more than one vote. As in you could for multiple rappers.

And for the dipstick by the name of ryder, why don't you make your own poll and then complain about mine. So shut up and shove it.

I will admit that Ms. Jackie O is not the bets rapper. But I've been to some places where Ms. Jackie O is practically worshipped. Apparently this forum isn't one of those places. At any rate my fav song by her is probably Suga Walls just because.

And I put some serious thought into it and I finally came up with Nas. Nas isn't like evry generic wanna be rapper about there today. He doen't rap about sex, and drugs. There aren't half naked chicks in his videos and he's sending a message to people.
People always complain about rap being some sorta dirty genre because of the nature of the lyrics in some of today's more popular and mainstream songs, and they complain about how it's degrading to women, but Nas changes all that becuase he talks about all the other stuff that people are either too ignorant to know enough to complain about or because they choose to continue hurting their ears by blasting crap like 50 cent and garbage like Chingy.
I like Dead Prez a lot but he's far from the best in my opinion. he talks in terms of revolution and beating the system, and standing up against the figurative "Man" and the systemt hat holds people down, which is all fine and dandy but sometimes the beats and the rhymes just suck. There are some songs that just make me wanna scream.
And then there's DMX. Now DMX is good, it's original and it's good stuff. but he started to lose me when he said Dog over and over again. I'm sorry. I've said this before and I've said it again, you can only say dog but so many times before it becomes illegal. And hten his songs became a tad bit more mainstream and lost a little bit of his quality. but it's stilll good, I just prefer his odler stuff more. One of my fvaorite albums Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood. But his work on the Cradle to the Grave album was nice. Brought us back to the good old days when he was still one of the best out there.
Another one of my all time favorites is Big Pun. His stuff is just classic. This is the kinda stuff you can play at a Bat Mitzvah or something. It's pure, it's clean, it's music to just chill to.
I htink my favorite rap song ever is Renee by the Lost Boyz. This song is being played at my wedding. That's how good this song is.
(The playlist for my wedding is at least 200 songs long and getting longer)

Peace

ryder 05-27-2006 05:20 AM

Did i say your poll sucked dipstick. I like the majority of your choices. I never even said she sucked. I was just making my opinion that she shouldnt be on here. By the way i voted for Nas also dipstick. What no one can have a opinion no more. That wasnt even a hateful comment. I think your being too sensitive and overreacting.

Crazy Luv 05-28-2006 02:39 AM

Dammit, if i knew i could vote for more than 1, i would of chose the first 3, but i chose Em without much thought to it.

ryder 05-30-2006 07:08 PM

i didnt realize u could vote for more than one until it was too late also.

hookers with machineguns, your taste in hip-hop is boring, predictable and downright offensive to anyone who knows anything about hip-hop. Lil kim shouldnt be anywhere near that list.

You've got the wrong hooker.
Cause I made the poll
I put Lil Kim on there.
And there's nothing you can do about it

red man is not in the wu tang clan, and method man is not a joke without the rest of the clan he is great with and without them

Necromancer 11-20-2007 08:22 AM

I voted for Eminem. But one of my favorites, is Tupac. (dead or alive). Not to metion Dr.Dre also.

HawkDoubleDown 11-20-2007 08:10 PM

... I'm not going vote because, the only 2 rap artists I even remotely like are not on there. Aesop Rock and MF doom.

CarlJr 11-20-2007 08:18 PM

aesop rock and mf doom suck. indie rap is ****

HawkDoubleDown 11-20-2007 08:26 PM

... Well, I would argue, but being it is a matter of taste I won't, since it would most likely lead to a flame war. I will say this however on complexity and... intelligence factors those two bands are superior. Thats it for me though, end of discussion.

CarlJr 11-20-2007 10:00 PM

Thomas Paine was intelligent, doesn't mean he would have made a good rapper.

but the thing is, both those artists are intelligent, and can rap, even if they aren't great in your opinion, they're still superior to most current rap artists.

under 11-25-2007 11:25 AM

you didnt include kanye west.

so thats what i choose.

not all rappers need to be intelligent to be greatness.....everyone seems to think so but it's not true. not all rap needs to be social conscious rap.

CarlJr 11-26-2007 03:09 PM

That type of rap appeals to the same people who like Bad Religion and Against Me!. Whatever, like it, listen to it, just know that it's sh*t.

errett 11-26-2007 05:13 PM

what about lil wayne
thats where my vote is
most of the rappers on that poll cud never dream of WRITING lyrics as good as the ones that he just FREESTYLES

CarlJr 11-26-2007 05:16 PM

haha what?

have you heard the lyrics of most of the rappers on that list?

Prez
Tech
Wu
Jay Z
Pun
Nas
Em

All write better than Wayne freestyles man. Wayne just has a cool voice, his rap is kinda wack

I'm pretty sure that any of the rappers on the poll could write better lyrics in their sleep.

look out for dat new album called "THA SHEETS IS TALKIN' BOI! VOLUME 1." any day now.

white_powered_zombie 11-26-2007 07:00 PM

Muph out of Muph & Plutonic

But if I have to pick an American rapper... The fellas from Cypress Hill.
Zach De La Rocha out of RATM should be in there, I think he is more intelligent then most of those guys on the intelligence argument.

dramababe 11-26-2007 07:04 PM

Documentary

Very recently for school I edited a documentary that was about an Underground rapper known as the Truth. One of the questions that the director asked him was who were some of the most influential rappers in his life and the two that he named was Nas and Jay-Z. Seems to be everyones favorite rappers, that must say alot about their music.
