Same here, i basically didn't listen to any hip-hop before them, but that album was a whole new world to me. It's still as refreshing today, not many other acts have that same amount of charm.

3' High & Rising does sound rather dated

if you asked me (which probably nobody did), i prefer "Is Dead" or "Buhloone Mindstate"

hip hop just doesn't age well, unless your ATCQ. I want to say i like De La Soul because i understand their influence and thought put into their sound, but honesty i just can't get into them.

You see the influence, but despite that, still don't like them, or you can't see the influence anyway?

Ahh I feel ya. Thought I may have misread it.

You are right about Hip Hop being dated, just look at Public Enemy's first few records.

Yeah man. That's why hip hop in general is less about the music then other genres.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (according to a article i read years ago) has been selling significantly better in the last decade then it ever did in its first.

Thats the issue with not having live instrumentation or using computer generated beats, it's like special effects in film, it juts loses its value when compared to the current stuff.

thats a lose analogy so don't pick it apart too hard
