rap in the end is about flow, rhymes and delivery. it's obvious which of the two was the more skillful rapper. nobody in their right mind would ever dare to claim that 2pac can match up to biggie in terms of mc dexterity. hell, 2pac himself wouldn't say so.

biggie has one of the most unbelievable flows ever. he is certainly the most influential rapper in the modern hip-hop era. everybody from wu tang to clipse to eminem has been inspired by biggie's flow and have modeled their own styles upon his.

so is this thread a question of who's the better rapper, or what?

Agreed.

Pac was the best rapper to ever live!
It was him against the world, and he won :)

Pac.

For the most part people (not necessarily people on musicbanter) are claiming "Biggie is the best" based off of two releases and a handful of unreleased material. One release which is an undeniable classic, the other which had a bit of cheese despite what the average fan will tell you. it was not consistent. and yes it changed the game, but for the worse if anything.

if it was asked "who had the better flow?" then sure Biggie. who was the better emcee (won't say rapper) it's Pac. He has tons of classic/near clasic material to showcase this. his ****loads of unreleased material (before they butchered it on Loyal 2 The Game) is brilliant. As a full-package emcee Pac was better.

but what is sort of sad is that their deaths caused their material to get over-attention. moreso their albums released the year they died. neither Life After Death or 7 Day Theory(at least to me) are not their best work yet are held on a pedestal.

2Pac's lyrics have so much more meaning than Biggie's. There's no competition.

Coming from someone who knows close to nothing about rap but would still like to make an opinion, I think Tupac is much better, Biggie's beats are really bland. I think these two are heavily overrated though what with them coming from such "hardcore backgrounds"

Tupac was more diverse imo. More easy to relate to...at least for me.

Biggie without a doubt. He might not have released nearly as much material as 2Pac, but I find him to be so much more lyrically appealing. 2pac wouldn't know word play if it bit him in the ass.

He's just got ridiculous talent -- not to say that Pac doesn't -- but I just like Biggie's stuff more.

Personally I have never listened to Pac....
