I'm not a huge fan of either. I voted Biggie though because he was okay while Tupac flat out sucked.
|
Tupac, is too hard at some times, while Biggie is easy going all the time.
|
I would have to go with Biggie over 2Pac anyday...
|
you can't decide between the 2 different rap style . Well i like biggie to chill out and because he was easy goin man but if its for some serious rap 2pac is on the top
|
I'm no rap expert, and I've only heard a limited number of songs from either of these guys, but I personally like Tupac more. Biggie seemed more like some sort of gangsta novelty bling rap (yeah, I'm not sure what it means either), good when you want to get down at a club but not really for normal listening (not for me anyway). Tupac is just easier to listen to and has better flow.
|
Although I'm not black, I grew up with not much money. I felt like Biggie told stories better, like he knew what life in the ghetto was like. Tupac seemed to exaggerate police brutality and white people hating black people etc etc. Tupac was like a preacher but a hypocrite. Talking about change and stopping the violence when on another song he would brag about killing. And I highly doubt Tupac has killed or would've killed somebody. Rappers (unless you're DMX, Ol' Dirty Bastard, or the old Snoop Dogg) pretty much seem to be all talk.
I like Biggie more, but I do like Tupac. |

Perhaps you can give me some idea where to start with Biggie to expand my knowledge a little? |
I'd say get Ready to Die and Life After Death and hear them in that order. In a way they're both concept albums, sort of a semi-autobiography that incorporates a lot of fiction and godfather like crime drama. Getting out of jail going from a nobody to a rap superstar, attemping to kill himself and then getting back to his old ways with his new rich and powerful status before getting assasinated. At least that's how I understood the loose narrative.
|
Will do, actually sounds like an interesting listen. Thanks!
|
Hands down biggie is the king!!!
|
I liked 2Pac with Dr. Dre and California Love, good music video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37wSwAJ98Zk

Hmmmm, my first post here. I was drawn straight to this thread, and i think Biggie was the better when it came to freestyling. But when it came to lyrics 2Pac is the best there will ever be, simply amazing. They were both great lyrically, freestyles, i loved both of their flows, etc etc... and you can't argue with them both being the 2 best ever... Pac was more the gangsta rapper aswell.
I've gone for Pac in the poll, but damn its a close one. If Big had the chance to make more music, who knows.. maybe i could of said him then.. but the same could be said for Pac. |
Disagree with that last post to a certain extent, biggie definitely had the better rhymes and the better flow.
Pac was nowhere near as skilled in both his use of language and rhythm. Pac's songs carried a message that Biggie never could though and the passion in his voice is something unique. I prefer the Beats on Biggies tracks as well, east coast rap destroys that west coast ****. I call it a draw, Biggie is technically leagues ahead of him but there is just something about 2pac which raises him to a level other more proficient mc's struggle to reach. |

never could get into 2pac that much. i like biggie's style a lot more.
|
Biggie's lyrics and flow are untouchable, but Pac's content is untouchable. It all depends on the mood I'm in.

Ok EVERYONE WHO SAYS BIGGIE IS BETTER OR BETTER TO CHLL TO NEED TO GO HANG THEMSELVES BEING BETTER TO CHILL TO DOES NOT MAKE SOMEONE BETTER THAN THE OTHER. TUPAC IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME TUPAC WROTE AN ALBUM IN 5 DAYS HE USED TO DO 2-3 SONGS A DAY I MEAN COME ON. AND I KNOW THT STILL WONT MAKE U MUSIC NOOBS BELIEVE WELL CONSIDER THIS TUPAC IS THE BEST BECAUSE HE WAS ABLE TO HUSTLE EVERYONES MIND HE GOT INTO YOUR MIND AND REALLY MADE YOU THINK. NOW THATS WHAT I CALL AMAZING AND THE PEOPLE WHO THINK HES STILL ALIVE DO BECAUSE THEY LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND REFUSE TO LET HIM GO . COMPARE ONE OF TUPACS ALBUMS TO ONE OF BIGGIES NOT EVEN LISTEN TO THE SONG JUSTREAD THE TITLE. OK TUPAC HAS "BRENDAS GOT A BABY. ME AGAINST THE WORLD, STARIN AT THE WORLD THRU MY REAR VIEW, THUG MANSION, ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME. NOW LOOK AT BIGGIES MORE MONEY MORE PROBLEMS, BIG PAPPA, JUICY , WHAT IM TRYN TO SAY IS BIGGIES MUSIC IS NOT ANY DIFFERENT THAN MANY OF THE ARTISTS TODAY HE TALKED ABOUT MONEY AND CLUBS AND MONEY WHAT ARTIST DOESNT DO THT THESE DAYS? THE ONLY REASON HE IS EVEN CONSIDERED WITH PAC IS BC THEY DIED AROUND THE SAME TIME AND THEY WER BEEFIN WITH EACHOTHER AT THE TIME AND EVERYONE NEW TUPAC WAS THE GREATEST AT THAT TIME AND EVERYONE WHO DIDNT LIKE HIM OR WAS FROM THE EAST COAST AUTOMATICALLY SAID BIGGIE FOR NO GOOD REASON. NOT TO MENTION MOST OF TUPACS ALBUMS ARE DUAL DISCS NOT JUST ONE HE WAS THE FIRST ARTIST TO DO THAT. LAST BUT NOT LEAST HIS MUSIC IS STILL COMING OUT TODAY . GET UR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE U WRITE UR DUMB COMMENTS. GO LISTEN TO THE LAST VERSE OF ME AGAINST THE WORLD THEN REPLY TO THis

club rap is generally about sex. It's to be danced to really. Violence is more a general hardcore rap thing. |
Quote:
Of course it's to be danced to, my point is people who listen to it don't listen to the lyrics, it's always about sex, violence, drugs etc but it doesn't matter to them because they don't listen to the lyrics they just listen to the beat. People don't care what the song is about as long as they can dance to it. And violence isn't a hardcore rap thing (i'm not even sure what you mean by 'hardcore' rap) violence is used in almost every club rap ever created "dont stomp on me or me and my crew bla bla bla" "i got my heater and my glock 9 bling bling muva****a!" "get outta my face homie this girl dancing wit me chea!!!!" all the same retarded bull**** on every single song. |
Quote:
And hardcore rap is a genre. |
Quote:
Anyway, of course if a song is sued in a club they are a club rapper (or at least partly a club rapper because they have made a club song). You will never hear a song in a club if it hasn't been made to dance to. All the artists I mentioned make their music to dance to and no other reason(aside money of course). |
But all the music that's made specifically to dance to in general isn't about violence but focuses on sex. The few songs Biggie Smalls spit for clubs were of course about sex, does that mean I see him as a club rapper? Of course not. He has many songs that don't even come close.
And hardcore rap is a pretty big genre to miss. It's not the same as gangsta rap. |
Quote:
"I step in the club with my ho and my glock/ yo yo yo the party neva stop!" If they make club rap I'll bet my entire life savings they mention a weapon of some description or talk about being gangster or in one way or another imply some sort of violence like "Don't step to me im just here to dance but I'll **** you up good if I get the chance" or some other drivel. And like I say, never heard of hardcore rap, but all the rappers wiki mentions under "hardcore rap" can be related to another genre eg Kool G Rap = gangster rap. I've only heard of rap being described as "Hardcore" in the same way you would say "Dude this guys a hardcore mutha****a". Not saying it doesn't exist(clearly it does) just saying it's the first time I've heard of it as a genre and all the artists wiki mentions under the genre tend to come under other genres as well. It seems almost like an overlap of various other genres. |
