'Sounds Of Science' is a pretty definitive compilation and encompasses most of Beastie Boys influences and sounds. Ranging from their early Punk days to the metal influenced License To Ill' to the ambient instrumental work of The In Sound From Way Out. They are a great band and work on many levels.

Not sure if this has been made note of yet, but the boys have canceled upcoming concerts and pushed back the release of their new album because Adam Yauch (MCA) has treatable cancer. It's on their website.

And wow, 2008. Ha, hope I posted this in the right place.

I heard about that cancer! that's unfortunate. I certainly will be getting that new album when it drops though.

Ahh man, how unfortunate. At least it's operable. I grew up with these guys on my stereo constantly.

"Ill Communication" is one of my favorite albums of all time. "Check Your Head", "Paul's Boutique", and "License to Ill" were all fantastic too.

I still listen to License to Ill every now and then. I still need to get their other albums.

But, I heard about the cancer, and I wish him luck with all the operations.
