So yeah Eminem still sucks and you really havn't changed my opinion on that being a stupid sob story.

ProggyMan 09-10-2007 08:56 PM

Just look at some of the music you listen. You're thinking about the song the wrong way. It's not a sob story it's a social satire and a horror story all at once.

Quite true, plenty of people could come up with that, and better. Did it actually happen, cause if so then it takes away the talent because he was just writing what was unfolding, there's not really anything complex or deep about it.

And why are you backing Eminem, I thought you liked Prog?

ProggyMan 09-10-2007 09:44 PM

I do. I'm a prog-head. It's not true. It comes out of a sick and twisted mind.

Flex#19 09-12-2007 11:46 AM

Can you say "Cry baby"-- Get over it dude, do your thing, let others do there own. Kanye isnt that good anyways...

ProggyMan 09-12-2007 04:38 PM

This is a music forum where we discuss music. It's not being a "cry baby" to argue with someone.

Blain 09-13-2007 02:37 AM

Daft Punk is too good for Kanye

Blain 09-13-2007 02:42 AM

Well Ethan, you used one of Eminem's worst songs. It's pretty undeniable that songs like Lose Yourself were enjoyable. The lyrics weren't phenomenal, but they got thorugh.

The soul's escaping, through this hole that it's gaping
This world is mine for the taking
Make me king, as we move toward a, new world order
A normal life is borin, but superstardom's close to post mortem
It only grows harder, only grows hotter
He blows us all over these hoes is all on him
Coast to coast shows, he's know as the globetrotter
Lonely roads, God only knows
He's grown farther from home, he's no father
He goes home and barely knows his own daughter
But hold your nose cuz here goes the cold water
His hoes don't want him no mo, he's cold product
They moved on to the next schmoe who flows
He nose dove and sold nada
So the soap opera is told and unfolds
I suppose it's old partna', but the beat goes on
Da da dum da dum da da

LouValor 09-13-2007 07:47 AM

Music wise: kanyes lyrics are not to my liking, but he has some decent production skills.
Life wise: i think he is too egotisical, but it works for him and people buy into it.

Your avatar goes perfectly with Bikini Kill's Rah Rah Replica.

Come to think of it, it goes pretty well with Gray Matter's Skate and Destroy as well.

Piss Me Off 09-13-2007 12:09 PM

Why does Kanye West feel the need to ruin all the songs i like?

asiankaos 09-13-2007 03:22 PM

West isn't a gangsta rapper by any means. As far as being a producer goes he is nasty. As far as being an emcee goes...horiblle.

fmqb.com reports Fitty was just playing!!! lol

The latest sales figures still have Kanye West's Graduation ahead of 50 Cent's new album Curtis. Billboard reports that as of today, Graduation has sold 781,000 copies since Tuesday, while Curtis has moved 603,000 units. However, despite their war of words, 50 Cent is not backing down.

50 has been everywhere this week promoting the record. He told Billboard, "[The sales] can't be considered [any one way] anyway because it's just a few days out. I guess [the music industry] would consider me to be a hip-hop favorite because of my sales history, and people like to root for the underdog."

He also backed off his boast that Curtis would be his last album if it didn't debut at #1, speaking to WQHT (Hot 97)/New York yesterday, adding, "The impression I gave them was so strong that they have different standards for me. When my music comes out, if it was someone else's record, it would be a hit because it spun 3,500 times. But they're looking for the hottest music out at the time from 50 Cent, so if it's not that, then they show me resistance until I deliver. I've only been in the music business for four years and I'm already receiving some backlash. That's amazing, isn't it?"

50 Cent also told BET he felt underappreciated at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. "Kanye received the upper hand. I ain't going to front," he said. "He had four looks -- his song 'Stronger,' his new record 'Good Life,' he had a performance with Soulja Boy, 'Crank Dat,' and then he came out with me. So I feel like Def Jam is doing a better job of promoting the CD than Interscope. Interscope is just relying on my base and the actual music. I was on the VMAs for one minute and 20 seconds. I should've just stayed home."

djchameleon 09-15-2007 02:01 PM

I knew he was going to do that......back out of it. He even said on 106 and park that he has another album coming out in december.

The ONLY Kanye West Thread

I think his last album wasn't that good. Has some good tracks, but it wasn't as good as his last albums. Anybody else feel this way? Really I think he went the wrong way, and turned the music into a bad direction.

anticipation 09-18-2007 04:54 PM

jesus christ, how many fucking threads are going to be made about this guy?

he's from chicago
and i don't even talk about him as much as these douche boxes do

I'm a big fan of the Luis Vutton Don. First time I listened thru "College Dropout", I was blown away. Someone was bringing a new, distinct sound to hip-hop, and it was desperately needed, imo. "Late Registration" was a fantastic album, and I even enjoyed the hell out of the mixtapes between albums.

I think the production of those albums alone made them great. He's clearly got an immense gift for making unique beats. Add onto that his flow and the way he writes, and you've got yourself some magic.

Quite unfortunately, I didn't hear the same in "Graduation". The flow was there, but I thought the beats were (for the most part) lackluster. From a purely expectation point, I was disappointed. I think it's still a good hip-hop album, and probably couldn't be mistaken for anybody's but Kanye's. Still, compared to his first two entries, I just don't think it stands up.

DonnieG 10-02-2007 01:52 PM

Kanye is good, in my opinion, one of the best in hip-hop right now. I'm not a big fan of gangster rap (50 Cent...), nor am I a fan of 'snap rap.'

=ladyface= 10-07-2007 04:39 PM

Kanye West is pretty good at what he does... I know that a lot of people have a problem with his method of sampling because he does tend to take large chunks of other songs. But he makes good use of them.

I think that the Daft Punk sample he's taken for Stronger sounds better in that context than it did in the original song, actually.

Graduation is a great album. He owned 50 cent with curtis

bleedingmind88 10-08-2007 09:31 AM

i hate that with rap there is a "Flavor of the week" i dont see him going too much further in the rap game

ProggyMan 10-08-2007 09:55 AM

He's the biggest name in rap, and doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 10:28 AM

Yeah, I can see him sticking around for a lot longer, even if he's just in the background as a producer.

bleedingmind88 10-08-2007 10:29 AM

kayne west does suck!
