Asher Roth

The greatest white rapper since Dylan and best party song since that one Andrew WK song - check it.

Laces Out Dan! 02-24-2009 11:54 PM

Such a rad song man, I dont go to college...but its a helluva anthem for me otherwise.

enemyat_thesix 02-25-2009 06:02 PM

kid sucks

Terrible Lizard 02-25-2009 06:36 PM

An Aaron Carter for the frat boys, just ****ing brilliant.

LeftInCompany 02-27-2009 02:02 PM

Don't like the song heard other things that we're all right though

Shoe 04-22-2009 07:34 PM

I don't think he's particularly good but for some reason I think he's not too bad to listen to.

Bane of your existence 04-22-2009 07:48 PM

Awful. Just, just awful.

Shoe 04-22-2009 07:53 PM

Nah man. He's just having a good time. Not great by any means

Bane of your existence 04-22-2009 08:08 PM

Nah, absolutely a black eye on the face of hip-hop. I've been hatin on him for yeeeears. Then, that story about him saving the airplane full of people from the terrorist comes out, and boom dude blows up.
I'm sure Nickelback is having fun too, doesn't make an excuse for what they are doing.

Shoe 04-22-2009 08:14 PM

Valid points. But if I had to have a song playing at college at a party it would be something like this rather than some deep **** by Immortal Technique. Don't get me wrong Tech is my favorite rapper. I just think all music has its purpose even if its not a great one. Catchy song, funny guy.

Surell 04-22-2009 08:23 PM

I bet five bucks Bo Burnham spits harder than he does, Bo Burnham raps harder than... pretty much anyone though, and I mean that. He's not serious whatsoever but damn if he ain't clever. I need to get this album, but it's being hailed as a classic already, which sounds like bullshit.

Thrice 04-22-2009 08:28 PM

Ha ha good joke Ethan?

Nobody is calling it a classic, take a quick look at metacritic.

I don't even know how to articulate my dislike for this guy. He's having fun, great, who wouldn't be in his situation. I hate the stereotypical frat college ****, and this song is pretty much their anthem.

pourmeanother 04-22-2009 08:38 PM

I usually find crap rap to be ok, as long as I acknowledge that it's terrible and I'm only listening to it for a beat or just because I know it's a pretty worthless contribution. This, though, I'm not sure about... it's just so cliched and generic.

"I sleep on a futon
I play lots of beer pong
I'm heatinggggg up
No wait, I'm on fire
I made three in a row, now I'm on fire
I drink pink panty droppers
To make the girls get topless
I shotgun keystones
Because I have the cahones"

....Anyone can write that song.

Shoe 04-22-2009 08:42 PM

True true, did I mention he wrote more than one song? Haha, I just think he's funny to listen to. Anyone else could have done it but he did and so I laugh chill and play a different song. Don't care much at all for the lad but just caught him on the radio or something the other day and thought it was alright.

Kirby 04-22-2009 08:43 PM

College Kid with a similiar voice/skin complexion to Eminem.

That's his gimmick, I guess.

Yeah, I think he's gonna be the next Shwayze, cept not as chill. Just loved by the kids who "love good rap not the **** on Kiss (our local ****ty ass popular music station)"

Just watch the commercial for the album, they say critics "are hailing it as a classic".

Then why haven't I blown up yet?

Sparky 04-22-2009 08:48 PM

Maybe you don't love beer pong enough

Kirby 04-22-2009 08:58 PM

You gotta talk about something different.

Talk about Pre-School, and nap time.

Oh man, you're getting so many credits when I make my album!

Well I can't really do that, I'm too young. Or lame. Either/or.

Reap3r 04-24-2009 01:27 AM

My cousin showed me the album last night. I thought some songs were ok. The one song that i actually enjoyed was "As I EM" I think the kid has some talent but he does need to work a lot harder if he expects to make it big.

Surell 04-24-2009 11:16 AM

He already made it big. I think what you mean is he needs to work a lot harder if he expects to be respected as an artist.

Gareth Brown 04-24-2009 11:20 AM

Terrible. Just ****ing terrible.

Surell 04-24-2009 11:22 AM

It's like I'm saying, Bo Burnham probably destroys this cat at rapping. Then again Bo destroys about everyone at rapping.

djchameleon 04-24-2009 11:30 PM

Bo who? Asher is alright, he just needs pratice is all. His flow is all over the place....like he can't make up his mind and not like he is talented enough to switch it up consistently

Bane of your existence 04-25-2009 12:22 AM

Bo Burnham. Did you ever see those viral videos with that kid with the casio that makes a ton of pun while rhyming? Super super white kid. He's hilarious.

djchameleon 04-25-2009 12:46 AM

no I'll have to look it up

Antonio 04-25-2009 11:11 AM

Songs like this make me lose faith in humanity

Pretty much

GhostWriter 04-25-2009 07:05 PM

yea, this song is straight

FaSho 04-25-2009 07:29 PM

Ehh. Not that great...especially the "Chug, Chug" part.

Dayani 04-27-2009 02:05 PM

The album could have been better...I expected more, but it sill good!

Bane of your existence 04-28-2009 11:38 PM

Dude's been rapping for yeeeears. It's not practice he needs. It's talent.

lucifer_sam 04-29-2009 07:53 PM

he's a cunt. and i'm gonna have to deal with him and ten billion other testosterone fueled frat boys this weekend.

FML

lucifer_sam 05-01-2009 06:46 AM

scratch that this guy is an ENORMOUS cunt.

he spent 45 minutes onstage and at least five of that trying to freestyle how he feels about childhood obesity. none of which made sense. by the time he got to that part of the concert though, i was pretty burned out by everything that came out of his mouth, which in some way all reverted back to how much he loves weed, beer and pussy. it was pretty obvious he was trying to get laid.

what a shitty fucking rapper.

a black eye? Hip-hop has taken a nose dive over the past several years.

Is your "tech" reference to Tech 9 or Immoratal Technique?

Either way their both the reason the underground still matters.

Sparky 05-01-2009 03:00 PM

I'm guessing Immortal Technique since he mentioned him in the sentence right beforehand.

At least this dude is getting pushed hard on MTV now, which means he can't be "cool" for too much longer right?
