Troll.

Kirby 02-16-2011 05:43 PM

He's obviously someone that takes how popular an artist is, over how talented an artist is.
I base that on him thinking that Oscars and awards = talent.

TockTockTock 02-21-2011 06:00 AM

Diggable Planets is pretty decent, also. Might as well include them in this list somewhere. After all, they did create jazz rap (I think).

Simmi 02-24-2011 05:13 PM

For me it would be Eminem or the Black Eyed Peas.. ^^;

johnyBlaze 02-25-2011 01:56 PM

Wu-Tang Clan are the greatest.

And as for using Oscars, awards, popularity etc. as evidence then I think this lyric is quite fitting

"If you go platinum it's got nothin' to do with luck / it just means that a million people are stupid as ****"
Immortal Technique - Industrial Revolution

Don't talk here if you don't understand his music. Aesop Rock is probably one of the best rappers in hip hop.

There are others if you want to know more. :)

Artists: Nas, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., Big L, Big Pun, and much more.

Groups: WU-TANG CLAN!, N.W.A, Eric B & Rakim, Tha Dogg Pound, G-Unit, and more.

I would never consider guys like Eminem, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre because they are all no good sellouts. Maybe if i answered this question in 2003 things would have been different.

Greatest hip hop group ever: Wu Tang. No contest.

How can you compete with, not two or three, but nine of the some of the greatest names in hip hop, who've made some of the most favored albums in the genre, both together and independently? Not to mention they're STILL out touring for fans, RZA is making a freaking kung fu movie with Russell Crowe, and they have their own video game. WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't like Wu Tang.

GERD 04-25-2011 09:13 AM

For me it is Cage. I love his style and the gritty realism of his lyrics. Hell's Winter is one of my favourite records of all time of any genre.:stupid:

Cage is pretty awesome it took me awhile to get into his flow though. Sometimes it sounds a bit off beat but he comes from my home town. Well one of my hometowns.

GERD 04-25-2011 12:07 PM

Which Cage record do you like best?

Do you like Necro? He's quite good, I Need Drugs is a great tune. Some of his stuff is a bit obscene for me though in all honesty. Thye samples he uses are good, especially the Charles Manson ones.

djchameleon 04-25-2011 12:17 PM

Necro is okay but I don't really like the whole death rap stuff.

I like Movies for the Blind with Hell's Winter being a close second.
I'm talking about Cage obviously

GERD 04-25-2011 12:45 PM

I really liked Agent Orange off Movies For The Blind, great tune. I never really got into the whole album though, not like I did with Hell's Winter(I got the 2 disc with the instrumentals which is pretty cool).:band:

Ignorance..... is it bliss?

You clearly have only heard the likes of Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka etc. smh.

Really? I rap. Do you think I'm a horrible musician? I think I'm half way decent. But apparently I must suck because "rap" (it's properly called Hip-Hop, by the way) is talentless. Which is odd because it seems like it took quite a bit of study and diligent practicing to get it down. Huh. Go figure.

You clearly have no idea what goes into making a hip hop song. You equate talent with playing an instrument, I assume. The amount of talent a producer needs to have to make a good track is immense, it takes a lot of work to get this down. Hours and hours on end of studio time perfecting beats.

The rappers themselves aren't talentless either. Do you think rapping is just talking over a beat? Why don't you record yourself doing that and show us the results. Like the piano, rapping can be entry level, but is a tricky vocal technique to perfect and truly master. If you think you can spit for us, right here and right now, and actually present a decent flow - I say go for it. Upload it to youtube and let us watch. Prove to us how talentless rap really is.

The technical aspects of rapping are just one difficult area to master. There's also the immense creative responsibility of crafting lyrics. These are poets and wordsmiths, and even spitting a half way decent bar takes more talent than playing a few crappy guitar chords and singing a few easily recalled lyrics.

By the way, in addition to producing beats and rapping - I also play guitar, bass, piano, flute, and sing. I don't think any of those things takes more talent than the other.

If you are judging hip-hop by what appears in the charts these days you are way off the mark. Listen to Public Enemy, DJ Shadow and Dalek and try and tell us that they have no talent.

As regards muscianship and singing, in not just hip-hop but music in general, they don't mean everything. Some artists can say more in one note than others can in 30 notes, for example hardcore-punk bands.

The Virgin 05-20-2011 06:07 AM

Lil' Kim is the BEST!!!!
